What is the general political position of ‘Our West Lancashire’ do you know?
Edit: I googled. Slight Nimbyism (stop building houses for students etc) but general seems to be about local facilities. Nothing overtly anti immigration, but hard t9 tell with local independents really.

Edited

Seem pretty benign. No ranting about immigrants.

Just in my hotel room before going out to explore. There’s been a bit of weather here in Ibiza. Torrential rain and thunder yesterday afternoon with flooding in some areas (not mine), but otherwise beautiful warm sunshine. My boat trip today was cancelled due to it being a bit breezy - to be honest the migraine I had yesterday due to the storm is still hovering behind my eyes so a bouncy catamaran and light of the water all day might not have been fun. Going to explore a necropolis instead…
And probs sample some cocktails.
great news from everyone last night! Long May it continue.

Some by-election over night results. Labour not doing well of course, but Reform not managing wins, so that is good. Reform's vote shares here don't reflect the national polls. Lib Dems doing well. Two more to come:

Edited

Here are the rest of the results, both have gone Reform's way ☹️

I also missed one of the Reform gains earlier. So two Reform gains from Tories. One Reform hold.

I think that is all of last night's.

Eta: don't think I will be venturing to Skelton East anytime soon! 65%😱

I went to Es Canar on Wednesday. Lovely.
Field testing Ibizan gin. It’s good.
Thanks for all the good wishes. Home tomorrow (v late) but it looks like another grim one. Lovely today though.

Gains from Tories are better than gains from anyone else.

Absolutely. There’s a bit of me that thinks the more gains Reform make the better. It just means more fuck ups.

DuncinToffee · 10/10/2025 14:49

The by-election one was triggered by the resignation of previous incumbent Reform UK councillor Robert Bloom after allegations he used the ‘n’ word against a local black family.

I still struggle to believe that the cohort of disaffected Labour voters who suddenly wake up one day and say "You know what ? I am so over Labour and Reform are now my Lord Saviour and Protector" really isn't in the same hemisphere as the equivalent disaffected Tories.

That's not an all clear for Labour, but it suggests they are running faster then the Tories from the lion that is Reform, for those of you who know the story.

Jenrick (and Toby Young) supported an asylum seeker who burned the Quran outside the Turkis consulate with his court case.

He has won the case due to his ECHR rights to free expression.

Tommeh ten names has endorsed honest Bob for turning up in person for this court appearance

Yes, but I've said it before. Some of the now disaffected Conservative voters in the deindustrialised North who are turning to Reform were originally Labour red wall voters who shifted to the Conservatives. I don't think it's a good idea for Labour to interpret that as conservative voters defecting to reform so it doesn't matter. It does matter if a big chunk of voters have been so let down by politics of the last few.decades that they have gone Labour>Conservative>Reform. It's a big chunk of people moving ever rightwards. I don't thing the answer for Labour is to try to win them back by out reforming reform. But it should be seen as a problem.
