Who wants to meet up in town tomorrow after their Saturday job for some Woolies pic n mix, a mooch around Our Price and then pick up the latest Smash Hits?

I'm reading this thread with some 1987 tunes playing on you tube. I recommend finding the 80's stuff everyones forgotten like Johnny Hates Jazz singing "I don't want to be a hero"
I was 14.
Loved U2 and A-Ha, had lovely friends and liked school. Happy Times.

@EscapeTheCastle what a good idea!
One of my faves is Deacon Blue When Will You (Make My Telephone Ring)

I think I’m too busy briefing Margaret Thatcher on education issues for Prime Minister’s Questions. It was twice a week in those days so it took up a lot of time….

My goodness. You were in the middle of the action.

Silverbirchleaf · 27/09/2025 12:44

1987 hits now playing.

AutumnLover1989 · 27/09/2025 12:51

I'll be 14 years old. Let's go into town, look at the posters in Athena and visit the perfume bar in the body shop? Then off to Woolies for sweets 😁

clamshell24 · 27/09/2025 14:38

busy protesting against clause 28

ImWearingPantaloons · 27/09/2025 15:45

If we’re off to Spud U Like and the Body Shop then I’m in!!!

BernadetteJune · 27/09/2025 16:13

Can we also go to Chelsea Girl to have a look at clothes? And also have a browse in the shoe shops: Dolcis, True Form, Freeman Hardy Willis? Then we can relax with a My Guy magazine.

SteviesNicks · 27/09/2025 16:18

Yep, I need a new pair of jelly shoes but I might see if the market has them.

We all did! With matching MFI furniture

Oooh, we could get the bus to MFI and have a wander round looking at all the lovely 'wall units' arranged into mini living rooms.

Jojoanna · 27/09/2025 18:56

I run an art gallery now and actually sell posters. Ours are retro travel style rather than the tennis girl or the man with the baby

SteviesNicks · 27/09/2025 19:24

I had the ubiquitous Man and Baby one and this one

I'm celebrating my 21st birthday. I'm going to R&J's (Romeo and Juliets) in Bristol with my friends. We'll probably drink too much pernod and black or black Russians...
I quite like the Summer Chintz crockery. I'm saving for a place of my own, so I think I'll get it from Argos.

Barneybagpuss · 27/09/2025 19:40

I had the poster of the man carrying two tyres

I'd cramp your style, I'm expecting baby number 2. I, d need to sit down all the time!!

SteviesNicks · 28/09/2025 14:28

I was hoping for a silver cross pram to come along.
Our neighbour's (in my childhood home) daughter had one for her twins! so it brings back nice memories 😊
