A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I took one for the team. I may need to go and lie down in a darkened room now.

Thank you for doing that and saving us all the rise in blood pressure

I loathe and detest them

But how would that explain how his popularity rating was just fine at the election and then sank like a stone thereafter? Did she ask him?

Yes she did and that's when he came out with the line it's all the Tories fault. That they had destroyed the countries confidence in politics

More slippy answers that don't begin to answer the question. It makes them look thick and cowardly.

EasternStandard · 28/09/2025 10:19

I can’t believe their go to for Starmer’s unpopularity is the tories. It’s laughable. They’re having us on.

Hang onto your hats ladies, Steve Reid being interviewed by Camilla Tominy. She asked about Keir Starmer's appalling popularity stats. Apparently Keir Starmer is so unpopular because the Tories allegedly ruined confidence in government! You can't make this stuff up!!

Did he also say that he didn't have the figure for how many houses labour have built because no one had looked it up for him? I may have misheard?

upseedaisee · 28/09/2025 10:19

I would also add, she asked at least 10 times (that I counted) how many houses had been built since Labour has been in power and he eventually had to admit he didn't know! He's bloody housing minister for feck's sake!
Then he accused her of a gotcha moment because she was handed the figures by one of the production team. He's yet another blobfish.

Maybe it's to keep the members paying their subs? Who else would fall for it?

They seem to blame everything on the Tories.

Did he not think job one of becoming housing minister should be finding out how many houses have been built?

There is something to it though.

The trust in the social contact is gone, and that is also because of the Tories' dismal few years.

It drives people to Reform. It's a bit disingenuous to use it as excuse for Starmer though.

Yep. Starmer is loathed and despised because he is Starmer. If you look at his popularity rating on the day of the GE it’s high. If the ‘tories did this’ it wouldn’t have been.

Over the last 14 months it’s dropped each week, due to his policies and actions.

It would make more sense if Labour had begun on such appalling ratings and hadn't lost it bit by bit, one crappy decision and scandal after another. They've achieved this unpopularity. It wasn't foist upon them.

Yep. The fault lies squarely with Labour. They won an historic majority only a year ago. The tories haven't exactly been robust in opposition either.

Starmer doesn’t like people not wanting to vote for him and is taking it up as a battle. His way to combat that is to use control, via law or schemes.

We still get to vote right, if he sees Labour tank so Reform get in he and his supporters can ponder in the wilderness on why.

I can't listen to any of them.
Fucking gaslighting twats the lot of them. Exactly same gaslighting as we constantly see from the cultists on here.

I somehow read 'cultists' with an 'n' in it. Probably as DH was just opining on the cause of Starmer's poor popularity!

I've just found out there's a protest in Liverpool today from 12. If I'd known earlier, I'd have gone, but I've only just got back from the dog walk.

Absentosaur · 28/09/2025 11:18

When we were talking about what we listen to, I said only Triggernometry. I forgot about Gary’s Economics on You Tube. He’s worth listening to.

His main point across all of his videos (free online) is wealth inequality. By wealth he’s referring to the super rich - billionaires.

All of his videos are worth a watch. This, his latest video is worth listening to / watching for 45mins. Food for thought.

Will Reform win the next UK election?

Does anyone know what time Starmers speech is? I have given the popcorn button on the microwave a pep talk and we're ready to go!

I think his speech is on Tuesday iirc. Its the housing minister (who doesn't know how many houses they've built) speaking today.
I think Burnham is speaking later today at a fringe event. Should be interesting.

I'm hoping there will be another Liverpool one. Or Manchester, at a push (there is no way to get there from here which isn't a total ball ache!).

I'll let you know if I hear of anything. DH and I would have driven to Liverpool this morning had we known about it. I hope there will be one in Manchester soon.
