Labour isn't working - Thread 10

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

How the fuck does this address anything? So now SATS for Yr 8.......and we all know how great they are 🙄

https://www.theguardian.com/education/2025/sep/26/year-8-state-school-pupils-in-england-could-face-mandatory-reading-tests

Is that yet another thing that will be paid for from the private school VAT moolah bonanza?

Absentosaur · 26/09/2025 12:33

The Labour Party really are shopping in the middle of Lidl with their bat shit policies. Picking up anything they fancy. With no sufficient thought or analysis behind it. Coming home with piles of crap sat around their house for years.

Upstartled · 26/09/2025 12:35

TheNuthatch · 26/09/2025 12:27

🙄
I hope all those teachers who advocated and voted for Labour are happy with it. I'm sure they're thrilled.

Oh great, they are doing that thing again when the headline is white working-class children when the data they are referring to is children in workless homes.

@Nestingbirds Welcome 😁
Agree with everything you've written. I couldn't listen to his speech. He makes me want to vomit and ruins my day.

Same. I won’t listen or watch, it’s enough he tries to bloody sell to me on the Telegraph app.

Loathing is too light a word.

Re teachers yes there were plenty of pro Labour pre GE on here.

Yes there were, and still are. Wonder if they will be now?

twistyizzy · 26/09/2025 12:51

Independent schools won't have to do the tests obviously, same as SATS.

Anyone want a chuckle?

Today’s YouGov MRP poll shows the following lose their seats:

Ed Miliband
Robert Jenrick
James Cleverly
Yvette Cooper
Wes Streeting
Angela Rayner
Mel Stride
Lisa Nandy
Bridget Phillipson
Priti Patel

My constituency is now expected to go Reform too. It was predicted to be a Labour hold in the last MRP. Its been Labour for decades.

We're still Conservative. Might be last man standing at this rate.

Oohh, I wonder if we'll get one of the interesting ones if it's a safe seat?...We might get <whispers> Cleverly. Would that be better than a Waitrose 🤔

Wow. I’m in London which probably means the last spot of red left. Will check

Honestly, I'm listening to some numpty from Labour and she's just said, and I quote "We already have a means to prove ID to work when you have to show your passport" she then on to say "however, to stop illegal working and having people disappearing into the illegal economy, we must have digital ID" So, not only have they admitted it's not necessary, why are we having mandatory digital ID then?

Was it Nandy? Through nothing more dazzling than she seems to do fuck all, Nandy seems to has emerged fairly unscathed from this disastrous year. So, while the party is at its most unpopular and while it is dodging legal bullets -she looks like she has been forced out into the media glare today to push through this anti-democratic labour reflex with a stinking cold 😁

Yep, you'd definitely get a waitrose. You may also get me as a neighbour 😂

That’s brilliant. You might see Cleverly in a Waitrose to combine the two.

She was on Question Time last night too, managing to dodge questions about Andy Burnham’s leadership bid

upseedaisee · 26/09/2025 13:28

I'm staring down the barrel of a Reform MP here. The incumbent Labour MP, is a decent bloke and one of a very few who has stood in the house speaking on behalf of WASPI women(of which I'm one) when the shine wore off the subject.
Reform came in second last time so I'm expecting a win next time.

Upstartled · 26/09/2025 13:28

Wait...he would bring a Waitrose? A 2-4-1? This could work.

sorry if you’ve posted before and I’ve missed it in my general annoyance at Labour
