It's a shopping list! Twin Snakes??

Duck sounds rather posh.

Quite standard otherwise, very specific on the chocolate choice - Minstrels.

Ginger, lemon, whiskey - someone has a cold?

Twin Snakes has me foxed - some sort of family shorthand? (eg we call breaded cod pieces 'fish hands' - i.e larger than fish fingers)

Twin snakes are Haribo. Pretty boring list

A 2 second google could answer your question rather than soliciting the view of a forum surely.

FurForksSake · 20/09/2025 15:59

Yes. Twin snakes is weird!

Haribo make a particular sweetie called Twin Snakes - sort of sour jelly in bright colours and stuck together in pairs. Google should bring up some images.

My kids love twin snakes!

I've been around here a long time and in the past a found shopping list has usually been a bit of a topic for general chat.

You're absolutely right. Ive learned my lesson - thank you for pointing out my stupidity and sincere apologies for wasting your precious time.

My DC's are well past the Haribo age - I used to be quite well up on the whole range!

My kids like haribo but I hate sweets and wouldn’t have a clue!

the duck I’m wondering what they are doing with that.

It’s a Mumsnet thing, posting shopping lists. At least it used to be, back before it all got a bit serious.

Good list OP, the writer had very clear writing and I think the high % of booze! 😄

nhsmanagersanonymous · 20/09/2025 16:16

I love a list!

interesting cat litter is only non consumable, what about san pro, loo roll, fairy liquid?
I think the first few items are for a gratin?

BIWI · 20/09/2025 16:17

I reckon they’re having some kind of duck dish, with potatoes dauphinoise and broccoli. And presumably guests too, given the wine/whisky/port!

Salvadoridory · 20/09/2025 16:17

I also thought we all loved a shopping list. How ironic that this one attracted the vipers. Probably sours as well. Well I liked it and am seeing a 1980s style dinner party and trying to see how the chillies fit in. Surely its quicker to make crumble than buy it?

Edited

Agree, I think a ‘kitchen supper’ dinner party. Either chicken or duck in a garlicky gingery marinade. Then with dauphinois or creamy potato puree, eg fancy mash, and broccoli.

Bernadinetta · 20/09/2025 16:20

I thought they needed snake’s butter 😁

deeahgwitch · 20/09/2025 16:21

My Mum loves a thing called Duck - it’s a bread/cake thing. With sultanas and a topping of white icing. I have no idea why it’s called Staffords Iced Duck.

deeahgwitch · 20/09/2025 16:22

It isn’t a bit duck like.

Tunacheesequesadilla · 20/09/2025 16:26

Why are people such miseries on these threads now? The last shopping list thread people accused the OP of being abelist because the list writer could have been dyslexic 🙄

stayathomer · 20/09/2025 16:30

I was thinking it was some iteration of ‘twix’ and an incorrect spelling for snacks/ snax!!!

The UK doesn't have a lot of the Haribo varieties that exist tbh. I have tried Twin Snakes but they're just so so imho.
