It's a shopping list! Twin Snakes??

Duck sounds rather posh.

Quite standard otherwise, very specific on the chocolate choice - Minstrels.

Ginger, lemon, whiskey - someone has a cold?

Twin Snakes has me foxed - some sort of family shorthand? (eg we call breaded cod pieces 'fish hands' - i.e larger than fish fingers)

It's a shopping list! Twin Snakes??

I’d like to know what role Twin Snakes are playing/have played in this dinner party though!

🤣

Miss the laugh emoji

MolkosTeenageAngst · 20/09/2025 23:00

Not the point of the thread but I am going to be calling breaded fish ‘fish hands’ from now on! I love that.

Vitriolinsanity · 20/09/2025 23:15

Oh god, I’m having flashbacks to my superior sister who could never back down and wondered why no one came to her parties.

I’ve never heard of Twin Snakes, but I’m intrigued where they fit into the dinner party. Maybe melted and used as a livid glaze for the duck?

I said I wouldn’t interrupt your discussion of the list. I’m yet to see any…beyond your desperate posts!

FFS! Give it a rest.

FFS! Give it a rest.

Things you have said about me on this thread that aren’t ok. And certainly aren’t conducive to a lighthearted fun thread.

I was hoping for something funnier…But as you're the strictly literal type, this has been proven to be not your sort of thread at all

Even when its explained to you quite clearly, you still don't get it.

Are you feeling ok?

maybe you’re hard of learning

you did say you weren't going to interrupt any further. Perhaps that might be a good option for you?

FFS! Give it a rest.

Omg, I thought the handwriting was beautiful!

Yeah, very subjective isn't it?

maudelovesharold · 21/09/2025 00:16

The thing is, the op just posted a shopping list (on Chat, not AIBU, btw) for some light amusement for the many on here who like a shopping list! MN convention dictates that what normally ensues is lighthearted speculation about the list compiler, what they were intending to do with their purchases, and any odd, incomprehensible or indecipherable items. The op didn’t know what Twin Snakes were. Instead of an explanation couched in frivolous terms, as befits a shopping list thread, the op had an undeniably (except by the poster) snarky reply indicating that the op shouldn’t have bothered posting, but used google instead, thus spectacularly missing the point of shopping list threads.

Hth to explain how this kind of thread works.

I quite like a nice port. My late father was a great believer in a Brandy and Port for stomach issues, normally he wasn't a drinker.

I tend to have my shopping list on an app now but would have hated anyone to find it. We tend to call things by the random names DS did when young.

Mink, motorbikes and crips anyone ...

Milk, crisps and….?? Can’t imagine what motorbikes were!

Indeed, the responses you questioned were directed at FatandFluffy who was patronising right from the off and picked up speed!

Pardon?

JustStopItNorasaurus · 21/09/2025 07:19

Well, FWIW I think the shoppers are having a family Sunday lunch today. There will be roast duck, gratin and broccoli.

They probably have grandchildren coming who will receive the haribos and minstrels. There may later on be another MN thread along the lines of 'AIBU, my ILs only feed my Dcs crap when we go see them?'

There will undoubtedly be too much port and wine consumed and a resulting argument, which the cat will watch bemusedly from the safety of his litter tray.

JustStopItNorasaurus · 21/09/2025 07:20

(And the grandchildren are definitely getting chicken thighs for their Sunday lunch, not duck.).

A 2 second google could answer your question rather than soliciting the view of a forum surely.

Shopping lists have been a thing on here for years. You could google anything. This is a chat forum where people chat.

Also - whenever you feel the urge to use ‘surely,’ you should probably avoid posting at all.

MuffinTopHat · 21/09/2025 07:25

CountryShepherd · 20/09/2025 16:12

I've been around here a long time and in the past a found shopping list has usually been a bit of a topic for general chat.

You're absolutely right. Ive learned my lesson - thank you for pointing out my stupidity and sincere apologies for wasting your precious time.

Ignore the miseries, there’s an epidemic of them.

MuffinTopHat · 21/09/2025 07:26

Salvadoridory · 20/09/2025 16:17

I also thought we all loved a shopping list. How ironic that this one attracted the vipers. Probably sours as well. Well I liked it and am seeing a 1980s style dinner party and trying to see how the chillies fit in. Surely its quicker to make crumble than buy it?

Me too, I’m picturing Margot and Jerry from The Good Life.

CountryShepherd · 20/09/2025 16:13

My DC's are well past the Haribo age - I used to be quite well up on the whole range!

I’m 45 and I love twin snakes 🐍 Blush. one side of the conjoined snakes is sweet and one is sour. Delicious. That’s a lot of booze seemingly for one meal - pricey! 😅

A Saturday night bun fight. I love it. Fight, fight fight 👊 👊

Ooh yes even more traditional than a MN shopping list thread is a MN bun fight thread 😁

Look, you've been really unpleasant to me right from the off.

I don't understand why it's ok for you to take that tone with me and yet you seem outraged when I respond.

I can also go to the trouble of gathering all your snarky comments in one place if that would help you see this.

I didn't say anywhere you were hard of learning. Unless you're paraphrasing. Because I guess it's what I'm implying.

You carry right on if it makes you happy. But I'm not going to acknowledge you any more.

Myfridgeiscool · 21/09/2025 09:41

Where do the ginger and lemon fit into this scenario?

Davros · 21/09/2025 09:42

I love a shopping list thread. She seems to be buying Lenon, I prefer McCartney

Someone's got a cold - I reckon it's for a hot toddy, with a splash of whiskey.

I'd never heard of Twin Snakes (I hate the texture of that kind of sweet so avoid Haribo) and certainly wouldn't have googled it - all kinds of innuendoes leap to mind 😀
