It's a shopping list! Twin Snakes??

Duck sounds rather posh.

Quite standard otherwise, very specific on the chocolate choice - Minstrels.

Ginger, lemon, whiskey - someone has a cold?

Twin Snakes has me foxed - some sort of family shorthand? (eg we call breaded cod pieces 'fish hands' - i.e larger than fish fingers)

It's a shopping list! Twin Snakes??

I'd have been just as baffled at twin snakes OP, though now I know (thanks to Google, mustn't speculate 😉) I have heard of them.

I do hope the shopper enjoyed their duck dinner, I love a bit of duck

I’m 45 and I love twin snakes, one side of the conjoined snakes is sweet and one is sour. Delicious.

I’m wondering just how off their faces the Haribo product development team were, to come up with that one!

Emmz1510 · 21/09/2025 10:48

Seems pretty normal. Twin snakes are sweets. A pretty expensive list!

FurForksSake · 21/09/2025 11:05

Maybe it’s toilet duck? 🦆

WimbyAce · 21/09/2025 11:09

Love the handwriting, much clearer than my messy lists!

Well, FWIW I think the shoppers are having a family Sunday lunch today. There will be roast duck, gratin and broccoli.

They probably have grandchildren coming who will receive the haribos and minstrels. There may later on be another MN thread along the lines of 'AIBU, my ILs only feed my Dcs crap when we go see them?'

There will undoubtedly be too much port and wine consumed and a resulting argument, which the cat will watch bemusedly from the safety of his litter tray.

🤣

I love a shopping list thread! Takes me back to the simpler days of MN and “naice ham”.

I said I wouldn’t interrupt your discussion of the list. I’m yet to see any…beyond your desperate posts!

Please go away.

Moving on.. I love a shopping list and fear they are on the way out now that everyone taps everything into their phones.
i imagine from analysing the hand writing this is an old man with his trolley doing his weekly shop, including the grand kids with the snakes purchase.

Someone mentioned the possibility of having port with minstrels. So I googled it.

"Port and Minstrels"
refers to the connection between ports and minstrels, especially in late medieval and early modern England, where civic minstrels or "waits" in port towns performed special duties such as calling out the hours and warning of dangerous conditions like wind, filling the night with music and serving as a vital part of the urban landscape….

And loads more like this. Pity Google doesn’t really work any more

You might be right, sadly.

Whilst he's rarely off his phone normally, DH loves a written list.

Ours has 3 different sets of handwriting - DD and I add our special requests to his list of basic provisions.

Op: I’m really foxed by what Twin Snakes are?

Me: they’re Haribo

Op: Honestly I'm a bit disappointed that we're talking Haribo here. I was hoping for something funnier with perhaps some mild innuendo along the way.
But as you're the strictly literal type, this has been proven to be not your sort of thread at all

I guess I’m not supposed to be on this thread then? 🤷🏼

I think they're talking about the next thing you said

Fatandfluffy · 20/09/2025 15:58

A 2 second google could answer your question rather than soliciting the view of a forum surely

Thats why they are saying the point of threads like this is to chat rather than just googling.

Its a conversation starter, that's all.
