A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Lol:

Trump described Sadiq Khan as "among the worst mayors in the world", saying he had wanted to attend the event, but "I asked that he not be there".

London mayor Sir Sadiq Khan speaking at an event in London, 8 June 2025.

Trump says he didn't want London Mayor Sadiq Khan at state banquet

The mayor of London did not seek or expect an invite to the state banquet, the BBC understands.

FFS this is getting out of control and just highlights the incompetence. We HAVE to get a firm grip on spending ASAP.

Agree with Mel Stride's comments there - they have lost control of the finances.

My parents have been guardian readers since time began. I’ve never seen the guardian openly go for Labour / Labour MPs as they have these last few weeks.. Traditional Labour supporters are not happy. We did try and tell them.
How is that state educated parliament looking for us now? 🤷‍♀️ (Obv I’m state educated but I’m not a bitter old hag, and so I enjoy helping others succeed, the opposite of Labour. Well.. maybe I’m an old hag 😂. Just not bitter.. )

Absentosaur · 19/09/2025 08:05

ps. My MN user interface now seems to be salmon pink and an unnatural blue.

I kind of doubt Sadique Khan wanted to go. Trump is just trash talking.

Sadique is not my cup of tea. I voted for Shaun Bailey. He was the conservative candidate, but he didn’t seem well supported by his party. I don’t know what was going on.

LupaMoonhowl · 19/09/2025 08:26

Same I was startled by this -is very irritating.

Agree with you on the Guardian.
This argument that Labour supporters put forward about blaming the right wing media doesn't wash.
Even the left wing press are against Starmer and his cronies. They are pleasing nobody.

I’ve managed to miss pretty much all of it bar the fashion pics and plush setting pics. I think it’s all I can take, glad I didn’t miss much!

Ditto. I made a conscious effort to avoid the press conference. I thought I'd give the popcorn function on my microwave chance to gird it's loins for the Labour Party conference.
It sounds like it was a bit of a damp squib. I was hoping the Donald would hand Starmer his tatties, but what a shame he didn't.
I thought Melania was every inch the statesman's wife, she was composed and looked stunning, I think it's the first time Kate has been close to being upstaged. Oh and Victoria Starmer reall needs to sack her dresser.

TheNuthatch · 19/09/2025 08:41

Jeez.
Highest borrowing for five years, meaning it hasn't been this high since the covid furlough scheme was in full swing. What a mess.

The economic news is dire - Labour have manifestly failed to make any group feel like there is any reason for optimism. Their rhetoric is relentlessly partisan and miserable.

the patriotic fighters stuff just sounds insincere coming from a bunch of people who are long term London political animals.

But but but its all the right wing press being negative......everything is fine, nothing to see here

Labour. Dept for Education. Bridget Phillipson special. Wth are they thinking with this ad??????

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOtmb0SDONA/?igsh=MWNwbjVrMGI3OGhucA==

As one comment says

‘No, give us the choice and we want to be with our child in their home environment as long as possible, we don't want more time away from them 6. We want the brief important interaction with their class teacher not the support staff in charge of 30/40 kids at breakfast club. we want to see how they are with their own classmates as they start the day. We want them to get enough sleep and not be rushed out the house early.. Have you spoken to any parents at all before running this ad?’

The last few Labour supporters must be on mn. Each week they lose more voters.

All the sneering in the world won’t help now.

It really is deluded of Labourites to blame the media for this shit show of a government. As if the economy, policing, immigration and the NHS are all doing splendidly. And the PM’s judgement isn’t giving off the smell of a Glastonbury portaloo.

On the site changes, it’s all a bit kiddy-like isn’t it? Baby blue and baby pink. Not a fan.

JustStopItNorasaurus · 19/09/2025 09:26

That ad once again is just so patronising. That (along with gleeful spite ) is a Bridget special.

Besides- the VAT on school fees is quite magical. Remember how it was supposed to pay for more teachers ... breakfast clubs... and also the building of affordable housing? Never mind Department of Education- it's the Ministry of Magic.

They honestly make me sick to my stomach.

Sir Keir Starmer provoked outrage after suggesting his housing pledge this week was made possible 'because' of VAT on school fees.
