Labour isn't working - Thread 9

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I'm rather disappointed. I thought it might take the same vein as David Steel and David Owen. With Rayner taking Owen's part and Starmer Steels.

The two Davids 😁

Has anyone noticed how the government has started using the term 'irregular migration ' instead of 'illegal migration"?. King Charles also used it in his speech during Trump's visit. I read that the term illegal migration is widely agreed to be pejorative.

In calling it irregular migration instead of illegal immigration, the government seem to be trying to brainwash us into thinking it isnt such a bad thing.

What is going on here? It seems that the government is not only allowing but encouraging illegal migrants to come here and Charles is fully on board. Why?

Thanks for that. I'd been racking my brain to try and tease out what they were called. Pretty obvious when you think about it! 😊

Upon reading the article, Keir Starmer has 'full confidence' in Morgan McSweeney. That's him gone then.😂😂

Keep chipping away, they’re losing people at a pretty good clip.

It's mad, isn't it? I wonder how they'd feel about irregular accounting, shopping or driving?

duckfordinner · 24/09/2025 07:55

@Upstartled add to that list irregular tax payments

GabrielsOboe · 24/09/2025 08:32

Almost 450k signatures for the below petition to Parliament…

Introduce offshore detention/mass deportation for illegal migrants

Ouch.

Read an article today. Apparently the public sector is expanding whilst the private sector is contracting due to the NI increase etc. I honestly don’t know how we can go on for another 4 years with these disastrous economic decisions. They don’t seem to have any sort of vision or plan. It’s one tactical decision followed by a u-turn after another. There is no apparent strategy at all.

It's all planned though. They want to increase public sector do more people are reliant on them = votes.
This is all being done on purpose, it's their ideology.

Yes it’s all very depressing.

All I can remember about their pre-election manifesto is mutterings about supporting working people, smashing the gangs and improving the economy - and they've achieved the exact opposite.

Were there any other false promises in their "sales brochure"?

Don't give them ideas!

upseedaisee · 24/09/2025 08:57

I really do think that the Conservatives must start leading the narrative on all this. Until they start to outdo Farage we are sunk. They have to start using more forthright language and call illegal migration what it is. Because sure as eggs is eggs, the party that can out Farage Farage is the one that just might beat him.

On another note... I have purple porridge this morning and I'm not sure I like it. I put the Blueberries in the porridge before microwaving and they exploded. So I now have Blueberry porridge, instead of porridge with Blueberries😁🙄

I wasn't looking forward to the reign of King Charles III; the combination of him and KS et al is actually worse than I anticipated.

upseedaisee · 24/09/2025 09:14

I also think if the conservatives want to win, they need to start going on the hustings, good old fashioned meet the people type stuff instead of visiting companies and farms. This is, I believe, the reason Reform does so well in the polls. Their members and MP's are out there meeting people and holding meetings throughout the country. In my county alone, there have been 4 since the last election, the conservatives have been conspicuous by their absence and because of that, no-one but the party faithful really knows what they stand for anymore.

Agree with this. Ours is Danny Kruger, Reform’s newest MP and he’s all over the constituency. He’s very visible and talking to people all the time, it seems. He was the same when he was a Tory. I’m not sure if that sort of MP is more likely to go over to Reform, or it’s a complete coincidence.

Rivalled · 24/09/2025 10:00

Anyone who has looked at what the SNP have ‘achieved’ in Scotland during their tenure should see Labour is following their ideas/policies.

even Swinney has had to admit that Scotland has too many public sector and quasi public sector employees now, as that’s what happens when you relentlessly govern for your base.
