I forgot about it never heard it. My ringtone on my phone isn't very loud though. Even with the volume as high as it can go. If I'm not in the same room I don't hear it ringing

Zephyrcrossing · 07/09/2025 16:50

I hope it was just a test of the emergency broadcasting system!
Otherwise.......

Elbowpatch · 07/09/2025 16:30

I didn’t get the alarm but I did get message.

“This is an EMERGENCY message from DFES. A Bushfire Emergency Warning is in place for people in an area bounded by Sovereign Drive, Reef Break Drive, Indian Ocean Drive and Wilbinga Road including the Two Rocks townsite in parts of YANCHEP, WILBINGA, TWO ROCKS in the SHIRE OF GINGIN and CITY OF WANNEROO. You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes. Leave in a southerly direction if it is safe to do so.”

Um… you probably wouldn’t get an emergency alert in a test of the UK system in Australia 😂

localnotail · 07/09/2025 16:59

I got a siren and a text, no voice message. Siren woke me up from my nap!

lifeonmars100 · 07/09/2025 17:00

Mine was a text, no sound at all, very odd. Maybe they are trying out different types?

Livelovebehappy · 07/09/2025 17:00

Mine worked well, and was clear. There’s obviously going to be a glitch or two when trying to relay a message to millions. I think it’s good idea…..

amusedbush · 07/09/2025 17:01

I'm currently in the hell that is writing up my PhD thesis so I've been ensconced in my (silent) study since 9am - I nearly hit the ceiling when the alarm went off.

I didn't know anything about the test, which is weird because I'm chronically online 😅

Cantseetreesforthewood · 07/09/2025 17:02

Yep, like many others, I got the alert, and wanted it to shut up so I could read it. But the message disappeared when I silenced it, so no idea what it would have said in an emergency.

All 5 phones in this house received it. DHs got read out. Pretty sure the teens didn't care!

GrandmasCat · 07/09/2025 17:04

I didn’t get anything, may have been at the phone at the time but didn’t get the text either. Shall I be changing something in my phone?

Boomer55 · 07/09/2025 17:04

I got the text warning me it would happen, but no alarm 🙄

InMyHealthyEra · 07/09/2025 17:05

My IPhone had the siren and “This is a UK government alert” voice message, my Pixel8 was the same and DPs Honor also did the Siren but no voice message.

Where though I’ve looked

Settings, notifications, scroll right to the bottom of the page and there it is

whoboo · 07/09/2025 17:08

What would they even use that alert for?

whoboo · 07/09/2025 17:09

Oof aliens, that would be awesome

VeryViolet · 07/09/2025 17:11

I was in a cafe, mine was just a buzzing sound. The woman at the table next to me said "oh, is that the alarm?" and checked her phone in her handbag. Hers was buzzing, too, but she would have missed it if it I hadn't had my phone out at the time.

whoboo · 07/09/2025 17:12

Pandemic, nuclear...boooring.

Diversion · 07/09/2025 17:12

There is a setting which gives you the option to have the message read out. I have a new phone so went to check if I would receive the alert and the option was there. I turned it on because I could and it reminded me of the Presidential alert in the film Greenland.

MannyTeddy · 07/09/2025 17:13

2nd time not getting one, so long everyone! Feel like I can hear the orchestra from the Titanic playing next to me. 😂

SabreIsMyFave · 07/09/2025 17:15

Mine was a woman's voice, and it was a lovely Welsh accent. Smile

I don't live too far from the Welsh border!

Scared the living shite outta me mind you. 😱 It was loud!

DH's went off a minute after mine. I heard a few of the neighbours ones going off too!

whoboo · 07/09/2025 17:15

Haha Manny, sure you will know, or not and be happily oblivious

SabreIsMyFave · 07/09/2025 17:16

whoboo · 07/09/2025 17:08

What would they even use that alert for?

Floods, hurricane, very high winds, an impending storm, a WAR, or maybe (as someone said) ALIENS!

TangledUp679 · 07/09/2025 17:20

I’d totally forgotten this was happening, then looked at my phone 30 minutes later and saw a notification for the emergency alert. Definitely no siren, don’t know if it vibrated or not as I might have been in a different room.

I’m disappointed, I was looking forward to it Sad

(I’ve got an iPhone, on EE, haven’t turned off the emergency alert, phone not on silent, volume might have been turned down (but surely the siren would go off anyway?), siren worked during the last alert).

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 07/09/2025 17:30

Mine was a loud siren sound and vibration. Got it last Sunday. Im in the republic of Ireland 🤷‍♀️

Edenmum2 · 07/09/2025 17:32

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 07/09/2025 15:22

Maybe we can opt in or out - could explain why some people didn't get it.

You can turn it off in settings. Go to ‘disable emergency alerts’

Sunshineandoranges · 07/09/2025 17:32
