MN will go into meltdown if/when it's Phillipson.

It will indeed. Is she the favourite?

Piggywaspushed · 11/09/2025 08:54

I read somewhere that she has the most support within the party.

PickAChew · 11/09/2025 09:07

Gun violence is always terrible. In Kirk's case, I do feel for those he left behind and for those who witnessed his murder. I have no sympathy for him, the man who encouraged and promoted a world where this can happen so easily.

Macette · 10/09/2025 21:53

However live by the sword.....what does that mean?

It's a quote from the Bible.

countrygirl99 · 11/09/2025 09:34

The problem when you wind up the rhetoric is you don't only wind up the people on your side.
When you say that some deaths are an acceptable price, you don't get to choose those deaths.
When you have a President who runs on provoking fear, everyone gets more fearful and violent outbursts are more likely from both sides.
I fear the US doesn't currently have someone with the right influence to dial down the temperature.

I know what ìt means. What I was asking is where did your humanity go?

DuncinToffee · 11/09/2025 10:10

You can condone his killing and condone what the guy stood for

You are allowed to speak ill of the dead.

It's there for Kirk's family, and for all the innocent victims of gun violence in the US. Feeling someone should not have been killed (which I do) does not mean that person gets me to mourn for him.

I didn't see you pouring out grief when two Democrats were murdered by a politically motivated spree killer with a list of 70 targets. Sauce, goose.

How would you know if I did or didn't?

DuncinToffee · 11/09/2025 10:20

True, as far as we know you weren't on here then to tell people how to react

Well, you weren't posting on this thread. Now you are. What's different this time? It's richly ironic that all the morality monitors are suddenly out now, when the didn't give a stuff about earlier shootings. Including yesterday's Colorado school shooting in which 3 children died. Which you haven't mentioned either.

You're either opposed to gun violence, or you're not. People on this thread have made it very clear that they didn't feel CK deserved to die. However, as @DuncinToffee said, we are allowed to speak ill, or truth, of the dead.

The tragedy of this death can still be appreciated alongside the statistics of innocents killed in mass shootings. I have enough empathy to span the spectrum. Weak and despicable though it makes me.

countrygirl99 · 11/09/2025 10:36

My humanity is struggling with the deaths of children in schools more than with the death of the person who publicly stated them to be acceptable.
All murders are unacceptable but with some you can understand how they happened even if you would rather they hadn't. I cannot ever understand the murder of children, I can understand why some warped individuals would see Charlie Kirk as a target however much I disagree with that point of view.

Because this thread is the be all and end all of opinion? What ridiculousness is that. You didn't post then, you haven't mentioned this...if its not on this precious thread it's doesn't exist.

SerendipityJane · 11/09/2025 10:50

Looks like it could be a hard winter - lots of squirrel activity round are way.

PandoraSocks · 11/09/2025 10:51

Mandelson's been sacked. Good.

cardibach · 11/09/2025 10:52

Starmer has sacked Mandelson. Good work.
There’ll be loads going on about corruption on the left again I expect, failing to notice that Labour acts on these things instead of denying and defending. I’d prefer there not to be anything to act on, but we are where we are.

cardibach · 11/09/2025 10:53

You were quick off the mark there @PandoraSocks !

I didn't say any of that. I asked why the death of a prominent right wing activist has prompted the morality monitors to come to this thread, when previous political assassinations haven't.

Mandy should have been sacked before PMQs on Wednesday. Nothing was going to change.

DuncinToffee · 11/09/2025 11:11

Anyone else now humming 'oh Mandy'
