The thing is, Mandelson was probably very good at smoothing Trump's fragile ego. I suspect he wouldn't have been chosen had that not been a possibility (unless he has dirt on someone). But now, he has to go as far away as possible.

placemats · 10/09/2025 21:07

Perhaps Mandelson knows more about Trump given he spent time with Epstein.

Trump, the greatest ever peace maker on the planet.

I sometimes wonder if Mandelson has dirt on a lot of people and that is why he seems to be Teflon coated himself.

PandoraSocks · 10/09/2025 21:20

I just saw this. I don't know much about Kirk, tbh, but this is never a good thing.

The last thing the far right needs is martyrs.

I can't feel much sympathy for him, but I do feel sorry for his family. However, live by the sword...

Awful news.

My social media has 2 different shooting news stories. One at a school in Colorado I think.

Yes, 3 children hurt.

Trump posted that Kirk has died

With Melissa Hortman and husband killed earlier this year the US has lost 3 lawmakers/political spokespersons to violence so far this year.

(That doesn’t include the Hoffmans who survived.)

MaybeNotBob · 10/09/2025 22:22

Am I happy Kirk has been killed? No.

Am I sad that he is dead? Also no...

LlttledrummergirI · 10/09/2025 22:41

Fucking hell. Barely a mention (no mention from Trump) about the school shooting. But plenty of sympathy from Trump for a right wing gun nut who has previously said

"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.” - Charlie Kirk 2023

Where was he a few months ago when the two Democrats were shot dead?

He also said
“I think empathy is a new age term that does a lot of damage" - Charlie Kirk

Best heed the advice then and ditch the empathy.

However live by the sword.....what does that mean?

The expression is "Live by the sword, die by the sword". It means that if you use violence, them you are encouraging a world where violence will be used against you. It's derived from the Bible, where Jesus tells Peter to put away the sword he had just used against someone.

But Charlie Kirk didn't shoot anyone, did he?

He spoke and debated about his beliefs.

It's sickening to hear apologists for political violence pretending that having an opinion they disagree with is in any way equivalent to violence and murder.

DuncinToffee · 10/09/2025 23:07

Wrong thread @strawberrybubblegum ? Nobody on here has said anything like that.

OP posts:
strawberrybubblegum · 10/09/2025 23:08

""Live by the sword, die by the sword" should not mean "Speak opinions I disagree with, be murdered".

DuncinToffee · 10/09/2025 23:10

Maybe try reading what is actually being said

OP posts:
MaybeNotBob · 10/09/2025 23:11

No. They were just pointing out that someone who suggests that gun violence is fine, should not be complaining that they get shot.

Nobody is celebrating it. But some people are trying to twist it to their own political ends.

In a frankly disgusting way...
