A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

That’s appalling. The rainforest analogy is a good one.

Yes it is, very true. It really pisses me off that we allow this.

@Wishihadanalgorithm when I hear her speak sometimes I'm impressed but she's not coming out strong for some reason .maybe it's media portrayal?

Thanks for the info @Wishihadanalgorithm she is clear and rational but gets a lot of hate, on here too.

I think the media doesn't help, they're fairly patronising or just blank her. It might switch, the media tends to go where the polls go. It's a bit of a catch 22 without the media onside it's hard to get anywhere.

many experts saying the fiscal uncertainty is damaging business…

This kind of piece is why some people become
justifiably frustrated...

Channel migrants are in line for millions of pounds in compensation from the Home Office for being “unlawfully” detained in “inhumane” conditions.

Almost 200 asylum seekers have lodged legal claims for their unlawful detention and mistreatment by the Home Office on their arrival at the Manston migrant holding centrenear Dover, under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

@Arrearing50 and @Katypp Yes agree. You can see the incompetence from space. Starmer regularly boasts about creating jobs. What planet are these people on?

Another poor decision. Yet they claim to care about our environment.

Omg. Fcking disgusting. I HATE them. Allowing this total destruction of nature.

I see that Ed Sheeran, one of the UKs top tax payers, is leaving. And who can blame him.

That benefit pot is getting smaller Reeves / Starmer. Where will the money come from as more top earners stop paying tax in this country?

4

Ed Sheeran was ranked on The Sunday Times' top taxpayers list in 2024, paying over £36 million in UK tax and placing 32nd. In 2025, his estimated tax contribution was £19.9 million. He was the youngest on the 2024 list and was joined by JK Rowling and other wealthy individuals.

Moving to tax friendly Nashville.

He paid more tax in one year than Starbucks or Amazon. Despite earning less than both.

I believe that this has happened in Ireland, too. Bl*dy activist lawyers.

On the plus side, if you receive £1m compensation surely you’re not entitled to state housing and benefits…. although nothing would surprise me.

These lawyers need to be shut down. At least if the ECHR is modified they won’t be able to start and earn millions from these erroneous ‘human rights’ cases.

The radical barristers who really lay down the law in Britain

The facade of Garden Court Chambers in Lincoln’s Inn Fields is reassuringly traditional. The barristers who work there occupy buildings which were once home to the Earl of Sandwich and the Tory prime minister Spencer Perceval. If there were any buildin...

RIP ECHR.
How can anyone say it should stay now?

Hope this is the last theft of UK assets facilitated by cynical lawyers under the deceitful guise of human rights.

Agree with you.

Its clearly being grossly abused.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 09/09/2025 18:03

I think you put your finger on the issue. The problem is that ECHR is being abused in court procedure and resource, not that it’s necessarily leading (in these cases at least) to big payouts.

It is a bit ‘tabloid’ of the DT to say “in line for millions”: their cases may well get thrown out. Most are.

But it’s still time and money and agg that we don’t need from chancers.

It’s these sort of claims that make a mockery of the system
Hopefully they will all fail.

Who is paying for the asylum seekers lawyers? Are they funded by a charity, viz George Soros, or is the UK tax payer paying?

Agreed, it’s either legal aid or no win no fee, backed by insurance (though I believe there are rules about no win no fee in various sorts of cases).

Either way it’s a burden that feeds through to everyone else.

I’m not denying it’s a racket. And I’m in favour of withdrawal from the ECHR, or at the least repeal of the Human Rights Act.

More depressing stories about Phillipson being the the favourite to be deputy dear god

I hate to bang on about how much I loathe and detest her, just in case it wasn't obvious 🤣BUT she has yet again cone out with a chippy sentence of "I took on vested interest lobby groups and won" 😡
By "vested interests lobby groups" she means parents! Parents of children in independent schools, many with SEND kids. So she means she took on a a portion of the electorate who pay her fucking wages!! How the fuck is she allowed to say that, yet alone boast about it!
She is basically sticking 2 fingers up at the people she's meant to represent.

The woman is a disgrace. Oh and she's hardly WC, her Dad was an MP, she went to an all girls Catholic school ie best in the region and then went to Oxford.

The virtue signalling is horrific.

End of rant 🤪

twistyizzy · 10/09/2025 07:25

I just hope that 1 day she has to account for forcing SEND kids out of their schools

Parsley4321 · 10/09/2025 07:26

@twistyizzy rant away she is an idiot dangerous robotic idiot
justcreadibg today about the cards found that Mandelson sent to Epstein fucking hell there’s a can of worms there he certainly is a dark prince and now our American rep WTF

twistyizzy · 10/09/2025 07:31

She's also got some skeletons which it won't take the papers long to find.....interestingly hushed up. Specifically about her mums charity (which she worked at as her only job) de-frauding public money.

She's a nepo baby. Another one who never worked and just got her Dad's old seat.
