Labour isn't working - Thread 7

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Yeah, but they're lashing out in the wrong direction. It's Starmer and co they should be blaming, not a thread on MN. It's not our bloomin fault.

They've spent 14 months defending every Labour move though, they physically can't turn tail and start getting angry with Labour because that would be to admit that they've spent 14 months being wrong! So they lash out at us/media etc.

TheNuthatch · 06/09/2025 12:12

@Plantatreetoday welcome 😁

Shrills though? You'd think that they'd choose a less misogynistic descriptor.

Maybe they should <checks notes from 'Rachel from Accounts' thread> interrogate their unconscious bias?

I inadvertently opened a pro-Labour thread which had appeared under Trending; all I can say is I take my hat off to those of you who can bear to read and report that level of delusion.

My BP is good, but not that good.😬

Haha same I have low BP, I always get a well done at the docs on that. Still there are some things best avoided Grin

🤣 you mean because they are the tolerant Left? 🤣

MyPantsAreBlue · 06/09/2025 13:18

We could have just stuck with Rishi. An honourable and very intelligent man. Didn't get everything right as PM but at least was a very good and successful chancellor. He was correct anyway.

I haven't done any laundry for a whole week 🫣. Thank God it's a good outdoor drying day.

What a week!

And it still there's Sunday to come, I would't be surprised if there was more more to come.

I do feel a bit sorry for Angela, and as we're stuck with this government I want them to at least not ruin the country until they go.

Absentmindedsmile · 06/09/2025 13:38

Going to a wedding today. London. Rich people. Be interesting to hear the general conversation about recent events.. I think I can guess but…

Arrearing50 · 06/09/2025 14:05

Oooh enjoy @Absentmindedsmile .
the idea that anyone that disagrees is a Tory bot/shrill/reform voter/worthy of insult - isn’t that the mistake the democrats in the US have made twice now?

i voted labour for oooh the first twenty years i could vote and voted for them at the last election…

Do you think he'd come back if we asked really, really nicely?

I don't think so, but would be worth trying 😢

I have voted Labour in the past too. That lot are so tribal that they can't imagine someone actually thinking about a party's current policies and direction, overlaying it on their own beliefs and current world-view,, and making an intentional, thought-out voting decision... which may vary over time!

Says more about them than us.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2025 14:26

Absentmindedsmile · 06/09/2025 11:14

😂😂🤣

If ever there was an example of judging others by one’s own standards.

They see what they want to see because that’s their narrow shrill shouty view / voice.

State of them. Embarrassing for Labour but it helps us all to understand exactly why They Are Where They Are…

Frankly if I was a Labour acolyte I’d be thinking least said soonest mended, head down and try and sort this shit out. But getting stuff done isn’t in their play book.

They prefer victim hood and pointing fingers. Twas ever thus.

I’m not looking at the threads btw, I’ve decided I don’t need those desperate shouty ugly flailing around vibes, in my life 🤷‍♀️

I follow a few leftie 'influencers' (being a leftie is incidental to their usual posting content) on Facebook and they're all posting about how hard done to AR is, and how Labour are great. Drives me a bit mad!

Bloody hell. We wouldn't be able to move for washing if that was us! 🤣

We've done 2 loads today. There's another almost full load ready to go as well. Probably tomorrow for that! It is a lovely drying day today. 😁

@DancingFerret and @EasternStandard, I was told during my HRT check on Weds that my BP was 'wonderful'. I'm not risking it by reading a pro-Labour thread.

This ‘nice’ thread refers to Labour supporters as ‘cultists’ etc and constantly jibes at how stupid they must be. So it’s surprising that sensibilities are offended by ‘shrills’. The old adage ‘don’t give what you can’t take’ springs to mind.

Did you read something in there that suggested I was upset or offended @CinammonSquirrels? My sensibilities are forged in an era of sticks and stones.

I'm just surprised at the decision to go for a misogynistic slur given the other options 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's just daft, so many disapprove of Labour and so few approve it's contortionist to think a public site should be all pro Labour. It's the same Labour posters calling other's 'shills', it's nonsense.

EmpressoftheMundane · 06/09/2025 16:08

I’m cracking on with chores listening to podcasts. What strikes me is that those who want to lionise/eulogise AR can only say that she came from a humble background to become an MP and Deputy Head of the Labour Party.

That’s it. She came from a difficult childhood did and well for herself.

It’s like being famous for being famous.

There were no comments about what she achieved for the country or her constituents.

I think roles models are important. But at this level you need to show that you are an effective servant of the people. My opinion is that she is interesting, but ultimately irrelevant. Only people really into identity politics could care. I don’t wish her ill- but I also don’t see a meaningful contribution- unless you consider her very existence a legacy.
