Stupid question, but what is Stärmer hoping to achieve with this reshuffle..other than distraction. I really don't get the point of it!

I’m surprised by much of the media reaction to this reshuffle. Cooper’s been moved sideways and Mahmood has certainly been promoted. But the general sense of Lammy having done well out of this baffles me.

Surely getting the sack from one of the big three offices of state is always a demotion? Giving him Justice and the Lord Chancellorship, plus DPM is a sop. Especially the DPM role - it’s meaningless. But the broadcasters don’t seem to want to say so.
