A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

BBC has nothing on cooper yet. Agree, can’t understand Ian Murray’s sacking @derxa he’s a long term decent MP, who has he pissed off and why? Or is it the price of Alexander coming back?

Alexander was in Blair/Brown cabinets? He was wheeled on to GMB this morning.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 05/09/2025 16:01

I’ve just read that Lammy’s replacing Mahmoud at Justice. What a demotion!

He’s not long for the cabinet.

And to think, all those MN Labourites who swore blind he’s super-duper clever and really able…

Who the fuck swore blind that Lammy was "super duper clever". They had a lobotomy recently?

For the life of me I can’t understand the sacking of Ian Murray. Wonder what walloper will replace him. Please god let Steve Reed be sacked.

I don't understand that one either. I thought Murray was popular in that role.
Agree on Reed.

Lammy has Deputy PM

Ah, so that’s his leaving present. Utterly stupid move. Lammy isn’t going inspire any confidence inside or outside the Labour Party.

The next ‘phase’ of this Labour government looks like it may be a hilarious car crash. Hard on anyone who wants to get a job, keep a job or save some money, but hilarious for politics watchers.

Absentmindedsmile · 05/09/2025 16:07

Im just catching up have pages of posts to read. But this made me laugh @twistyizzy

unions flexing muscle while Starmer stands blinking like a hamster

Though hamsters are SO much cuter. 🐹

dustoffthebooks · 05/09/2025 16:08

David Lammy as Deputy pm?

😂 oh my days!

I've said it before, I think our rabbit would be a better PM.
A hamster yes 100% better also.

He does just remind me of a hamster

Could be awkward. It could be the, 'Don't call me comrade, comrade' conference.

😂😂

It was on a thread soon after the election. It did feel like reading a ‘70s pop fanzine, all gushing and fawning.

I wanted some humour bringing back into politics. Maybe that's the plan behind Phase 2? Give us all something to laugh at?

Lammy?! Anyone who though it better to have Rayner left in place as a liability and a weight around Keir's ankle for the duration has hit consolation gold.

Oh I think she will be a huge weight from the back benches.
And he has to put up with Lammy 🤣🤣

Very true. That move has completely cured my buyer’s remorse at seeing Rayner defenestrated and no longer able to embarrass Starmer.

The DPM stands in at PMQs doesn’t s/he? That’ll be a right laugh. Hope the Tories can chuck some even moderately difficult or technical issues at Lammy.

I remember Prescott standing in for Blair. That was like one half of the Chuckle Brothers fielding questions.

I don't think they need to even be moderately difficult questions tbh

For fans of The West Wing it’ll be “CJ’s root canal” all over again!

Yes, Angela had stepped in for Keir on a number of occasions and if ToryHQ aren't bulk buying dinosaur t-shirts for Lammy's debut then they are far more mature than I am.
