A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

That's interesting.
Farage has just said he thinks it will be 2027. There are obviously rumblings that Labour may not survive this next budget.

Yeh I think it's the budget.
Nige was a hedge fund manager wasn't he?? So will still have contacts there

Heard it through friend who is a hedge fund manager. So completely un-provable but the fact they even messaged me to tell me......
City is just a vipers nest of rumours obviously so has to be taken with a truck load of salt

Maybe!

On another topic I bet the Telegraph is celebrating today, journos down the pub

ETA not that I can see they are at the pub but I bet they are. This is their scoop

I’d like it to be true. I fear it is just wishful thinking…

Interesting......The City is prepping for a 2026 potential election and I quote "if the budget is as shocking as most think, the bond markets, and financial industry in general will create an impossible environment ( Truss like) forcing the hand".
So hopes not high there that Labour are capable of doing anything to reverse things.

DH works in the City and I just asked him about this and he said that financial markets are preparing for turmoil after the budget, particularly if, as expected, a raft of new taxes are introduced.

Reeves is fucking clueless. All the handouts that Labour has promised are currently unfunded (despite their endless 'totally funded' promises pre-election). We all knew this government were going to be shit, but they are SO much worse than we feared 😩

Yeh like I said, taking it with a dollop of salt.

Telegraph clip speculating Streeting as new deputy - no wonder he was smiling the other day. That is their best bet but will the party vote for it?

We can dream 😁

Starmer will have to be dragged kicking and screaming from No.10. The only thing he cares about is power.

Yeh he has been waiting patiently since the election. I reckon he wants Starmer's job

Thing is of Starmer stays then at least he guarantees Labour losing the next election. Having Reeves and Starner go would potentially mean they may win

@twistyizzy think you’re on the money, he’s thinking I could get deputy or be PM by Christmas..

as far as I can see he’s just a slightly better media player than the rest?

I agree. So in a way as much as I can’t bear them they can stay.

And there it looked like Angela was the power behind the throne for a bit - didn’t see Wes there with his fluffy stiletto!

He's certainly very ambitious. I used to really like Wes Streeting, but I listened to the political currency pod where George interviewed him a few weeks ago. I was left really disappointed.
He is good on media though.

I always think it’s much harder if you’re not leader at GE time. Has anyone taken over and down well from it at the next GE?

May she be the last cabinet minister we ever have who waves away the rape of children as an irrelevance.
