Thread 31 Starmer - September Rain

I’ve already had an email from the General Sec of Labour saying there will be an election for Dep. Leader. Leaves a bad taste.tbh. I’m a bit furious with Starmer at the moment.

He had to accept her resignation. Much as I hate this happening it was inevitable. I’m irritated with her for being careless after all the furore last year over her house and tax.

DuncinToffee · 05/09/2025 16:48

Steve Reed going to MHCLG

I hope so. I know he’s marmite but I have warned to him greatly over the past few months and really think he can and will make a difference.

Love that Labour have put all woman in those roles. I hope they are treated with the same respect as their male counterparts.

Also the first time the three great offices of state (FCDO, Home, CX) have all been held by women at the same time.

from Sam Freedman

Sheepishly asks what CX is. I know the others.

That's quite uplifting on a day that sees a great MP and Parliamentarian having to resign. All the very best wishes to Angela Rayner.

So it starts

A racist response from Tommy Robinson. We have had recently Home Secretaries of Buddhist (Braverman), Hindu (Patel) and Muslim (Javid) heritage.

That a Muslim woman who speaks out strongly against grooming is attacked over her faith is a clear sign that this is simple prejudice.

Isn't Farage a Tommy Robinson fan ?

If not, it would be a shame to keep asking and running the two names together in fresh posts on the internet, as it might cause Google to keep returning details of Farage and Robinson.

Who knows, maybe ol' Nige will have to forgo his customary pint for a sudden love of barley water ?

Lalgarh · 05/09/2025 17:51

Zack thingy is on R4 any questions tonight

Given he's been elected as leader of the green 💚 party on an eco Populist ticket, he should be doing and saying stuff to grab headlines like his declared nemesis Farage does, constantly.

I checked Google UK news this afternoon and there is nada headlines featuring him. The only thing is the stories of the racist abuse deputy green Mothin Ali faced.

Meanwhile Labour left winger Clive Lewis is on R4 pm saying that the picks for cabinet are too narrow and this is a sign of an authoritarian party and a sign trouble from Angry Backbenchers. Oddly echoing Farages prediction that left wing MPs will force the government to call an election by 2027

In fairness, Farage has generally tried to keep his distance from TR because he knows it would backfire on him. Hence Elon Musk turning on Garage for not being right wing enough. Sigh.
