I'd suggest Mr Robinson-Yaxley-Racist-Shitstirrer-Lennon go fuck himself but he probably would if it were physically possible.

In fairness, Farage has generally tried to keep his distance from TR because he knows it would backfire on him. Hence Elon Musk turning on Garage for not being right wing enough. Sigh.

As we know, Musk saying, and Musk doing are not the same.

Farage continues to float around X like a turd that will not flush.

Farage claiming he'll Stop The Boats (TM) within 2 weeks of being elected

( Roger Allam voice over): he won't

Zack thingy is on R4 any questions tonight

Given he's been elected as leader of the green 💚 party on an eco Populist ticket, he should be doing and saying stuff to grab headlines like his declared nemesis Farage does, constantly.

I checked Google UK news this afternoon and there is nada headlines featuring him. The only thing is the stories of the racist abuse deputy green Mothin Ali faced.

Meanwhile Labour left winger Clive Lewis is on R4 pm saying that the picks for cabinet are too narrow and this is a sign of an authoritarian party and a sign trouble from Angry Backbenchers. Oddly echoing Farages prediction that left wing MPs will force the government to call an election by 2027

Edited

Agree with or don't agree with his policies they DO genuinely challenge the status quo. He is much further left and that is a genuine threat to, for example, the very well heeled owners of most media here. For all his rabble rousing, outsider persona Nigel Farage is much more a business as usual candidate if you like your politicians posh, your taxes low and your wealth tax non existant. So it makes more sense to signal boost Farage (even if in a disapproving way).

Besides the Greens would be judged more for issuing outlandish statements or making themselves ridiculous for attention. See Ed Davey. Whereas no publicity is bad publicity for Farage. It's not fair but it is what it is.

He might. After all, he caused them.

I agree! Tommy's rabble rousing benefits Garage anyway. He doesn't need to state common ground with him for that to happen though and he hasn't.

I used to be relaxed about the Greens (although I'd never vote for the, naturally) until they thought they could do science.

I wonder if there is any chance that Farage could be jailed for trying to start a revolution in a Wetherspoons ? He could write his memoirs in prison. "My Struggle" would have a nice ring about it.

The attention Is. The. Point.

Maybe gatecrash the Reform conference and heckle Farage. Say he supports Pal**tine Action.

Things that will never happen. 2029 is when the next general election will be called. And even with a 15 point lead then it would be a hung Parliament. Reform has to do better. Are you listening Farage?

Namitynamename · 05/09/2025 18:12

SerendipityJane · 05/09/2025 18:06

I used to be relaxed about the Greens (although I'd never vote for the, naturally) until they thought they could do science.

And that's the problem isn't it. Reform/Farage- make outlandish unevidenced claims - it gets attention and increases their reach even if what they say gets push back/isn't true. The greens (or the left generally) make outlandish unevidenced claims (about chromosomes for example) and it turns their audience of them. Don't get me wrong, I prefer my politics non crazy. But the upshot is, it gives the right a big advantage in getting noticed.
Basically Left and Right can both try to appeal to the craziest people on Twitter reality be damned. But it's not a good idea for the left to do so.

SerendipityJane · 05/09/2025 18:12

It's with a heavy heart, but it is funny ...

E2A: Remember when all the pro-Tory posters were joining in the fun about the total shambles of 2019-2024 ? Then you are a liar ....

I know fuck all about chromosomes. I just know how electricity works

Attention yes. And they don't need to be "moderate" either. They do need to be truthful though (whatever "truth" might be, let's say consistent with reality). Whereas Farage isn't. I just think the shock of losing in 2016 meant the US Democrats went in some weird directions. Even in areas I agreed with they dug some wierd holes for themselves and gotten eaten alive for it by Mr "windmills cause cancer".

All electricity will be powered by AI in the future anyway. Thus making wind turbines etc obsolete.

Actually saw someone post exactly that phrase TODAY!

It was like a blast from the past

PandoraSocks · 05/09/2025 18:41

Why would backbenchers force a GE by 2027? If Labour is still in the state it is now, they'd risk signing their own P45s. If it has improved and leading in the polls it would make sense to call an early GE, I suppose.

I bet I can guess who said that.

countrygirl99 · 05/09/2025 18:46

I've been at Burghley Horse Trials today. Just as British as ever with zero flags (other than the FEI one). Freebie as I'm marshalling tomorrow.
But omg as one of the stands are so £££££ (£49 for baby sized pjs, £190 for a fairly plain linen shirt) Clearly the rich aren't suffering from COL crisis.

PandoraSocks · 05/09/2025 18:58

Any horse tax @countrygirl99 ?

visited Badminton and Blenheim a few times - love dressage day and the shopping! Are you marshalling on XC course? Fence judged quite a bit at BE events.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/09/2025 19:03

DS2 has now provided much higher quality red squirrel tax. He spotted this one doing gymnastics in order to rob a bird box on the side of a house.

Still catching up with todays events, been in & out a lot had my hair done & added some pink to cheer myself up, if that grifting shyster is squeaky clean with his tax affairs I’m a fecking banana.
