Can we talk about Taylor Swift's engagement ring?

I love it!

Is it an elongated cushion cut?
Do I see a very delicate halo?
Thoughts on the chunky gold band?
Gold prongs holding the diamond in place? I would have expected platinum for a white diamond. Can still have yellow gold band. (Advice from Flik, royal jeweller on Tiktok)
And the size of the stone!
What sort of wedding band would go? Fitted? Or will a straight band sit flush?

Can we talk about Taylor Swift's engagement ring?

it’s absolutely beautiful and manages to be both huge but also elegant and very sophisticated at the same time

SequoiaTree · 26/08/2025 22:57

It's not my taste but my daughter in her 20s likes it so it might be more appealing to younger people

I'm not a Swift fan, but sincere question, why do posters describe her as an old soul and having a vintage aesthetic?

I have never observed her to have a vintage style in clothing. Not even granny chic. Everything I have seen her in has been trendy.

Any pics? Clearly I missed it and I love vintage fashion.

I adore the ring, absolutely gorgeous! Girl has great taste in Jewelry. The proposal backdrop was stunning.

She wears a range of costumes on stage including some more modern choices but also flapper style fringe dresses and ball gowns.

If you look at the cottage core Victoriana style from Folklore and Evermore and the 80s vibe of 1989, all the way back to Love Story, she's always enjoyed exploring time periods through style. If you follow her music, history is an enduring theme through all her albums.

Anything she wears becomes instantly trendy ofc.

That’s a good point. I wonder if there’s space under it for a thin ring to sit.

I have a groove cut in mine that means my wedding band can sit snugly under it so maybe there's one on that?

Jellybellycat · 26/08/2025 23:47

It’s beautiful, I think it’s quite understated for being such a big diamond - maybe because it’s not a typical shape.

They look happy, which is always nice to see.

Thank you for explaining! Looking up some images from Folklore I see it. I really haven't been paying attention! I feel the need to listen to both albums now as I've probably missed something that everyone clearly gets big time.

It's not to my taste but it is still a pretty ring.

Not sure if Taylor is technically a billionaire as she used a big chunk of the money from the Eras tour to buy her masters back.

Edited to say: Taylor seems the type not really care if she's a billionaire or not - like money is just there to make your life more comfortable & easier.
e.g. if I was a billionaire I might buy a small yacht for easy holidays but I'd still buy my favourite £4.99 Maybelline tinted lip balm as it's absolutely brilliant & I love it.

OhNoNotSusan · 27/08/2025 05:51

wow confetti when you google her name

That’s been there since she announced the new album, it’s not engagement related.

Empress13 · 27/08/2025 07:41

Not keen on it myself but as long as she likes it that’s all that matters

MiniCoopers · 27/08/2025 07:44

I wouldn’t be surprised if they announced in days they’d already got married

RoomToDream · 27/08/2025 07:46

It's a beautiful ring.

I love that yellow gold and chunkier bands are back in fashion, though yellow gold doesn't suit my skin tone sadly.

This could be like the millennial/gen z sock division, white gold/platinum could end up being an age signifier - and that's okay!

sweetkitty · 26/08/2025 22:49

So happy for her, she seems to have been unlucky in love in the past. Not so keen on the ring but I’m not the one wearing it and jewellery is a personal thing so who cares as long as the wearer loves it that’s all that matters

I wouldn't say unlucky, more that she had no reason to settle for second best. I'd encourage my daughter to do the same.

The number of misogynistic comments I've seen about this blows my mind. It's why men feel so threatened by her, she's showing women that it's OK to wait until you find someone that worships you and doesn't display red flag behaviours that you need to explain away.

The ring is very her style. Wouldn't suit me but I love some of the other pieces that designer has produced.

She is new money. I adore her music (I’ve listened to something stupid like 7,500 minutes of her music this year so far), but the ring is awful.

I have never seen anybody say New money before, it made laugh it is very Downton Abbey.

whatasillygoose · 27/08/2025 07:47

I love it. It looks vintage but I think he had it designed for her. It’s very her, she wouldn’t suit a massive platinum solitaire.

MiniCoopers · 27/08/2025 07:44

I would be. His dad has said he proposed a couple of weeks ago, and people who pay more attention to detail than me have noticed that she’s wearing the same rings and has the same nails as she has in the podcast recording. So it does seem like they haven’t been engaged that long, so any wedding would have been very last minute!

I did think that they might not announce any engagement, and it would just be made public after the wedding. But actually she’s been much more public with this relationship, and I can understand not wanting to feel like I had to always take my ring off if there was a chance I’d be photographed.

The use of the phrase on this thread may be tongue in cheek (albeit accurate) as it’s a TS lyric: There’s only so far new money goes

Platinum solitaires are to the 2000s and 2010s what ruby and sapphire clusters were to the 70s and 80s.

deeahgwitch · 27/08/2025 09:10

I don’t like it.
I think old cut diamonds don’t have that lovely sparkle of brilliant cut diamonds.
It is supposed to be an F colour.
Perhaps it’s the lighting but it looks dull for an F.
I also don’t like yellow gold with diamonds. I think platinum, palladium or white gold are better with diamonds.
But Taylor obviously loves it and it’s her engagement ring.

CharlotteLightandDark · 27/08/2025 09:13

Pollqueen · 26/08/2025 19:24

It's clunky, aging and really old fashioned. Don't like it at all

Pretty in keeping with Taylor’s style generally then? 😉

deeahgwitch · 27/08/2025 09:14

“Jeff Bezos and Christiano Ronaldo’s birds …………”
That’s a bit misogynistic.

If she was supported financially by her parents, she didn't earn it all herself.
By 'music artist' do you mean musician?

Of course she earned her billion and a half U.S. dollars herself! With her hard work, and talent, and her intellectual property.

With your train of thought, every single person who is rich/wealthy/a billionaire didn't earn it themselves, if their parents supported them financially as a child/teen.

Everyone was supported finanially as a child/teen! So according to you, that means NO-ONE has earned their money themselves!!! See how daft that sounds?! Wink

By that logic, hardly anyone earns it themselves. Nearly everyone on a good salary now can attribute their success to private schools and being supported through the best universities, or parents donating seed money to enable them to start a business, or parents in the business introducing them to contacts.

It is misleading to say she's "new money". She's from a wealthy family going back several generations, and her grandmother was a well known opera singer.

silverygreen · 27/08/2025 10:20

It is hideous. Looks like a lump of soap set in brass.

Net worth isn’t just about liquidity. Her masters are a very valuable asset and will be considered in an overall valuation of her net worth. She is a billionaire.
