Can we talk about Taylor Swift's engagement ring?

I love it!

Is it an elongated cushion cut?
Do I see a very delicate halo?
Thoughts on the chunky gold band?
Gold prongs holding the diamond in place? I would have expected platinum for a white diamond. Can still have yellow gold band. (Advice from Flik, royal jeweller on Tiktok)
And the size of the stone!
What sort of wedding band would go? Fitted? Or will a straight band sit flush?

Can we talk about Taylor Swift's engagement ring?

Maybe it’s an antique stone in a new setting. I think the old mine stone cuts were cut by hand and each one is unique.

I quite like it, but then I’m not particularly into gemstones (with my practical head on, it’s just carbon that’s been subject to very high temperatures and pressures, and is top of the shop on Moh’s scale).

swampwitch0 · 26/08/2025 21:02

It's beautiful, but I did think it would be white gold/platinum for some reason.
The cut of the diamond is exquisite.

I guess the stone will look much better IRL. I don’t like the thick gold band though. I’m sure she’s bothered about my opinion 😂

You can’t have a ten carat diamond on a thin band!

I am relieved to see someone with this much money NOT going down the Lorraine Schwartz path of structurally unstable "floating" stones! For one they all look the same (totally unoriginal symbols of "look how much money I can waste on adorning one finger"), and secondly if worn habitually they need constant repair and tightening. Very solid choice by La Swift.

Having said that, and liking her aiming her message at her fanbase demographic significantly less, and her likening herself to a poet (English teacher) rather than a musician (Music teacher) even less than that!

Gardendiary · 26/08/2025 21:02

I like it, I think the cut gives it a vintage feel and makes it less blingy. It also looks like there is some engraving on the band which is interesting.

Although it is big its not ridiculous for a billionaire, not like the ring Christiano Ronaldo gave to his fiance, which really was a hideous rock.

doublec · 26/08/2025 21:04

Clearly a vintage ring. Everything from the size, shape, cut, not to mention the chunkier gold band, all screams vintage.

Diamonds set in yellow gold bands were very popular long before the current taste for white gold and/platinum. Gosh, just look at the all the jewels Queen Elizabth 1 wore. Nearly everything was set in gold. Ditto thicker bands. Also, thicker bands are more substantial and in proportion for large carat diamonds, not to mention provide a better support.

While the ring is not my style, I really appreciate the craftsmanship and the fact it is something very different from the usually tasteless blingy rings. Love that she has chosen something unique and totally her.

Finally I get to use my qualifications about diamonds and ring settings 😂

Could well be 😊.

I’m lucky enough to own 2 Cartier watches so I can spot them a mile off 😂.

She definitely owns a Panthere from pictures I’ve seen but given her worth she’s probably got a few to choose from.

But, yes this looks more like a Santos.

I love Cartier watches although I prefer the plain steel versions (lol at me saying that as if the gold and diamonds would be an option in my budget!). I was very spoilt for a big birthday and given a ballon bleu. If I ever won the lottery I’d love a simple steel Santos.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/08/2025 21:04

Hmmm, I love a chunky diamond normally. This ring is not to my taste, it’s yellow gold for one, and I don’t like the setting. However it’s her ring and if she loves it I am sure she doesn’t give a shit what us random plebs think, lol.

God I just looked at that Ronaldo one - how ridiculous! It’s completely unwearable!

Please can you explain the beard thing? I’ve seen it a few times crop up about TS?

I don’t follow her that much so I don’t have any in depth gossip or anything, I just think she had more chemistry with Karlie Kloss than all of her boyfriends put together.

But that’s just me because she has 0 sex appeal in my eyes. If she disclosed she’s asexual I’d believe it. I know straight men who thinks she’s hot, though, so it’s just me.

Yeah…I think you could probably get one less chunky than that though

Although not conclusive I’d wager that there’s a big correlation between not liking TS and not liking her choice of engagement ring. Even in something that presumably makes her very happy some people elect to denigrate her ability and her achievement.

Disagree.

I love the ring but not a TS music fan (though I do admire her talent and work ethic).

As per my pp it’s a marmite ring.

I think many people have a more modern ring in mind when they think about engagement rings and this is a big departure from that norm - usually platinum/white gold brilliant cut stones.

I think it’s beautiful but I love vintage jewellery and especially old gem cuts and gold and am lucky to have inherited a few nice items.

Given the Taylor effect though I can see this older style cut becoming more popular again though.

Not as bad as the footballer one but still rather vulgar. Very Rich American.

I think it’s really ugly and I’m so disappointed because I love her haha

Same!! I love her music but I can’t defend the ring

DisabledDemon · 26/08/2025 21:14

Doesn't do a lot for me but then I prefer stones to be set in white gold or platinum (I don't wear much yellow/rose gold).

Still, it's not my ring and as long as she's happy, that's the main thing.

CactusFan · 26/08/2025 21:14

@doublec given your technical knowledge, can you give us your thoughts on the halo (?) and the colour of the prongs?

Adelle79360 · 26/08/2025 21:15

I really love unusual things and the ring is unusual! Not what I think most people would expect because it’s not the sort most people have. It’s fabulous - and why shouldn’t it be - she isn’t the sort to fit into the mould, she was bound to have something completed unexpected.

I wonder when the wedding will be!!

A close up of the ring is showing small diamonds on the shoulders and a very delicate halo.

It’s not a vintage ring. See my pp re: the designer.

It may be a vintage stone but we don’t know.

I think a lot of people tend to have a preference for either yellow gold, or white gold/platinum. Lots of her jewellery seems to be gold, and I think it’s suits her maybe a bit more than silver coloured metals.

My engagement ring is old fashioned (because it is old, it was my grandma’s) yellow gold ring. Not at all fashionable now, the metal or the style, but my personal favourite!
