Is it an elongated cushion cut?
Do I see a very delicate halo?
Thoughts on the chunky gold band?
Gold prongs holding the diamond in place? I would have expected platinum for a white diamond. Can still have yellow gold band. (Advice from Flik, royal jeweller on Tiktok)
And the size of the stone!
What sort of wedding band would go? Fitted? Or will a straight band sit flush?

I'm a big TS fan, but that ring is as fugly as hell. If my 'partner' was planning on proposing (or we decided together, to get married,) and he picked my engagement ring, and got me this, I would not be able to hide my disappointment. It's hideous! 😬 (I would pray he had kept the receipt!)

I’m halfway down a rabbit hole on Cartier watches here. I think it may in fact be a Santos Demoiselle, which looks a lot like a Panthère but is rarer!

But she's not 'old money'.

I’m sorry but it’s what my Mum would have called a knuckle duster. It’s clunky, chunky and the stone is so big, to me it doesn’t look real!

But again, each to their own, she obviously loves it, what anyone else says is irrelevant. No matter who they are, you wish a newly engaged couple every possible happiness.

No she's not. 'Old Money' is inherited wealth. 'New Money' is earned.

Taylor comes from a fairly wealthy, upper-middle-class family, and her parents supported her emotionally and financially as a teenager (and her dream to be a music artist.) But the billion and a half U.S. dollars she has made is all hers. She earned it all, with her talent, hard work, and ambition, and drive.

I can't decide whether I like it or not. I'd need to see more pictures. Poor Taylor will be on tenterhooks waiting to hear what I decide!

I suppose it depends what you mean by financially supported. She had a lot of success in her teens, an age when most parents are still financially supporting their children, and probably didn’t need their financial support after that.

If you look at her watch she clearly likes that shade of gold (as on the band) so if it was all his choice he paid attention

Although not conclusive I’d wager that there’s a big correlation between not liking TS and not liking her choice of engagement ring. Even in something that presumably makes her very happy some people elect to denigrate her ability and her achievement.

Yellow gold is definitely having a resurgence after a few decades where platinum was more popular (in the uk at least)

I thought it looked more like a cushion cut that an old mine brilliant cut....which are normally more round than elongated....
