Can we talk about Taylor Swift's engagement ring?

I love it!

Is it an elongated cushion cut?
Do I see a very delicate halo?
Thoughts on the chunky gold band?
Gold prongs holding the diamond in place? I would have expected platinum for a white diamond. Can still have yellow gold band. (Advice from Flik, royal jeweller on Tiktok)
And the size of the stone!
What sort of wedding band would go? Fitted? Or will a straight band sit flush?

Can we talk about Taylor Swift's engagement ring?

Oh I think it’s beautiful. I wonder if it will be a short engagement?

More interested in what the time on her watch means 👀

I’m not a fan of the band on the ring. Mind you, an ex-boyfriend’s mum had a MASSIVE diamond ring and she never had a wedding band. The engagement ring did double-duty. Probably just as well; she was about 4’ 10 so I doubt she could have lifted her arm with yet more bling!

OMG good point! Bet the time will be an "easter egg" re eg the date of the wedding!

TS plans about 3 years ahead so yeah could be a short official engagement as I presume they've ACTUALLY been engaged and wedding planning for months!

I think it’s awful and very new money.

I get that for the billionaires it’s customary to have a big ring, but something with meaning would’ve been so much nicer. It feels very gaudy.

It maybe has meaning. Imagine being so snooty that you call a talented multi award winning billionaire "new money" 😀

GreenFlag · 26/08/2025 19:48

A woman always gets the ring she deserves

RodeoJoan · 26/08/2025 19:50

It's another event to write songs about. She has a very long history as a beard.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 26/08/2025 19:50

I’d wager she’s maybe been engaged for a while.

Pancakeflipper · 26/08/2025 19:51

That will get scratched when she's gardening.

MellowPinkDeer · 26/08/2025 19:51

There is one very similar I’ve been stalking on Wave Antiques. £75K. Lush.

I like it, it suits her. I normally like tiny jewellery but this is cool.

She is new money. I adore her music (I’ve listened to something stupid like 7,500 minutes of her music this year so far), but the ring is awful.

I’m fully convinced they’re the beards 🙊

EmpressSisi · 26/08/2025 19:55

I love a vintage/antique ring! It’s a bit too chunky for my taste, but wow, it’s stunning. Let’s just hope Taylor doesn’t accidentally knock out a cat with that rock—or scratch it while doing the dishes 🤣

Shewasafaireh · 26/08/2025 19:56

It’s ugly and cropped like that looks like an old person’s ring as opposite to a young modern couple, but on the bright side Georgina’s ring was also ugly so at least she’s not alone on that.

CactusFan · 26/08/2025 20:06

Hmmm, looks like generally favourable reviews. Funny how some love it and some hate it! Personal taste is such a, well, personal thing!

Bet it’s vintage. It makes me think of Rebekah Harkness who owned Holiday House. “The wedding was charming if a little gauche. There’s only so far new money goes”.

I love it for her. She deserves something stunning and unique, a regular little diamond was never going to do it.

BreadInCaptivity · 26/08/2025 20:09

I love it, but then I like antique jewellery and especially gold over platinum/white gold.

It’s a very specific style and cut of diamond that’s going to get a marmite reaction.

Apparently not. It was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry and Travis Kelce.

They’re never Easter eggs about her personal life. Respect Mother’s boundaries!

ShesTheAlbatross · 26/08/2025 20:11

I really like it. Much better than some other massive celebrity rings in my opinion - I prefer it to, for example, the style of Kim Kardashian’s, or Mariah Carey’s.

But as with anything, each to their own.

BreadInCaptivity · 26/08/2025 20:13

It’s an old mine cut:

An Old Mine Cut diamond is a hand-cut diamond style popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, known for its cushion shape with rounded corners, high crown, small table, and large culet. These diamonds have a unique, warm brilliance, often with visible asymmetry and larger facets compared to modern cuts.

Key Characteristics of Old Mine Cut Diamonds:

  • Shape: Typically square or rectangular with rounded corners, resembling a cushion shape.
  • Facets: 58 facets, with larger facets than modern cuts, resulting in a distinct fire and sparkle.
  • Crown: High crown (the top portion of the diamond).
  • Table: Small table (the flat facet on top).
  • Culet: Large culet (the point at the bottom).
  • Asymmetry: Due to hand-cutting, slight variations in symmetry are common, adding to their unique character.
CactusFan · 26/08/2025 20:14

Yeah I suppose for a billionaire it's actually quite understated! It's not comedy big like Elizabeth Taylor or the aforementioned birds of Jeff Bezos and Christiano Ronaldo.

It's interesting how one's taste changes over one's life. If I'd got engaged at 22 (and was rich) I probably would have had a pink pear shaped diamond (being influenced by Posh and JLo) but these days I'd go emerald cut or art deco. Possibly an antique.

Has she just got engaged today then?
