A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Bloody hell yes they are. This is just crazy town

Market ain’t liking Starmer’s Phase 2.

Add in some potential French contagion.

TwoTierBbq · 02/09/2025 10:00

Apparently the last time they were this high was 1998.

UK gilts are blowing out again.

The whole sideline Reeves bit keeping her in is classic obfuscation Starmer. He can’t fool people.

twistyizzy · 02/09/2025 10:05

Labour supporters trying to debunk the You Gov poll 🙄 saying that it doesn't show that 80% of people polled think UK is in worse place now than 1 year ago

Bizarre

They are in a tiny minority and can't admit it. Very much out of Labour and Starmer playbook though. Keep pretending everything OK whilst Rome burns 🔥

Yep.

Have Labour dropped the "further and faster" soundbite now? Because they maybe realised no-one wants that?

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 02/09/2025 10:19

Pretty sure I heard Starmer drop further and faster into something yesterday because I remember groaning about it.

No I saw him use it on the news yesterday- I I nearly posted it here. I couldn’t believe he said it again. We don’t want further and faster!

The markets seem to be pretty jittery, especially in the face of July’s tax receipts figures.

I have a horrible feeling about this. Sterling’s battering will be the more important weather vane, IMO.

Haha vg

The anger if people don’t like Labour as they do. As if they expect their vote and someone else’s.

TwoTierBbq · 02/09/2025 10:28

I don't have faith I'm honestly worried ! We are not high earners at all and every teeny increment up is a small win
Everyone down is putting us further back.

Nursery owner was on TV re 30 free hours she said she they have been allocated something like 10 per hour but it costs 12 pounds per hour so they have been creative cutting term times and stuff
She said they are also hit by the ni increase
Along with schools and colleges.

Ive had two children in state for nearly 20 years now and we've never had the type of letter we had last term
Yes we've had " can you use our Amazon link " help fund raise but this was a proper desperate begging letter

Yes same. We’ve been in state for years as oldest at uni now and first proper begging letter under Labour.

Yep Labour crow about "free" nursery places whilst at same time underfunding nurseries and putting their costs up ie NMW and NI.
State schools have had budgets cut again, unions talking about Autumn strikes and teachers being made redundant.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 02/09/2025 10:37

Ann Boulter had a good old rant about the free state funded nursery hours on YouTube yesterday, spelling out the gulf between the rhetoric and how it is actually landing on private nurseries. Pointing out the similarities with the free state funded breakfast clubs and how schools cannot afford to provide them.

Love Ana. She rips right through Labour spin and rhetoric

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 02/09/2025 10:46

Oh, yeah, Ana! Between her politics and trouble with her car, DH and I have arrived at watching her stuff from very different angles.

Arrearing50 · 02/09/2025 10:49

Yes, huge fan here as well!

EasternStandard · 02/09/2025 11:42

Zack Polanski wins green leadership. He’s open to working with Corbyn apparently, not sure if vice versa too. They’ll be more of a threat to Labour if so.
