Labour isn't working - Thread 6

TheNuthatch · 22/08/2025 15:23

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Glad you had a good day @twistyizzy!

TheNuthatch · 31/08/2025 21:36

I sniff a name change 🧐. Rather cowardly imo.

Bridge from the block is a useless, incompetent tw@t who happens to be female. How's that?? Glad that's been cleared up.

Moving on.....

Evening ladies.
Glad you've had a good day twisty. Bet you and your pooch are knackered. Your day sounds fab phantom. How lovely.

I have been to Southport airshow today with my family. Sat on a camping chair getting soaked with rain. 🙄 British summer eh. We still had fun though, followed by a lovely meal out. Last day today with my ds as he flies back to Europe tomorrow morning 😭😭. He is thriving and happy which is lovely to see, but I will miss him.

I love the idea of education 'vouchers'. That would have been incredibly useful to us. The more choice and options parents have, the better imo.

That is good news! Hope they manage to work through the details.

Sounds like a nice day Twisty. You will sleep well tonight!

CruCru · 31/08/2025 23:51

I know I am rather a new contributor … but please can I suggest that people don’t respond to those who want to derail these threads. They don’t want a deeper understanding of posters’ viewpoints, nor do they want to hear that there are some who are not thrilled with the current government. The obviously goady can be ignored.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2025 23:54

I hope you had fun at the air show, Nuthatch. We could see some of the Typhoon from our house, but otherwise we aren't close enough to see most of it. When we lived in the centre we could see loads more of it.

My SiL was at the BBMF stall as she's in the RAF.

The weather was less wet but more windy today than yesterday!

Twisty, I bet your dog had a great time and is having brilliant dreams tonight. Sounds really fun.

Completely agree and that one was definitely a name changer too.

Also, doesn't matter whether you've been with us from the start, or just joined us yesterday, you've got every right to suggest things 😊 very sensible suggestion it is too xx

Phillipson doing the rounds this morning and not very well I might observe

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 01/09/2025 08:07

Morning all, happy Autumn (I'm calling it, none of this Sep 21st nonsense).

Accusations of misogyny is my Achilles heel but I will try harder to ignore the trolls.

Iain Duncan Smith in the Telegraph on the state of play as Parliament returns from recess and why we need strong and clear headed leadership to steer us away from an inevitable car crash of low growth, high borrowing and increasing worklessness.

www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/fe2075e8b0da126b

I'm getting some new boots and fresh stationery to distract from the oncoming fiscal meltdown.

I can't even bear to watch/listen to her I'm afraid.

Lutonsgirl · 01/09/2025 08:10

Happy Autumn everyone! Hold on tight!

Arrearing50 · 01/09/2025 08:31

No me either @twistyizzy i can’t stand the lies - no real funding, just snatching money away from kids barely coping to redistribute and repackaging it as a success.

definitely want to stop EHCPs being legal documents - that’ll be the death knell for proper support for a raft of kids. Just another group that Bridget doesn’t care about.

TheNuthatch · 01/09/2025 08:41

Good morning, happy 1st of the 'ber' months.

@CruCru Sage advice, you're right, it is best to not respond. Bloody difficult to bite your tongue sometimes though.
@ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera I will join you with some new stationery. I love Wrendale Hanna Dale writing pads, will order a new one today.

Yvette Cooper is set to give a statement later today. Morgan was on Sky this morning, but not worth the airtime.
Starmer is openly lying on SM about immigration now. His latest twaddle is that anyone who crosses the channel unlawfully will be detained and removed. Except they are not all detained and removed, most will end up staying.
He knows that. He knows that we all know that. Yet he says it anyway.

Anyone else feel a sense of dread? Autumn is coming, in more ways than one.

Ah new boots for Autumn days, and some new stationery. Could there be a happier time?

DancingFerret · 01/09/2025 10:03

To add to the furore over her possible tax irregularities, the Telegraph reports this morning Angela Rayner has registered to vote at all three of her residences.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 01/09/2025 10:15

I see Darren - 'let's call disability benefits pocket-money'- Jones, has stepped out from Reeves' shadow and has been given a role to deliver on the PM's priorities.

EasternStandard · 01/09/2025 10:26

Hola back from a great holiday, so glad to see new names on the thread!

A quick glance at other threads and still pro Starmer Labour posters and wanting higher taxes all the usual. Was so nice to have a break, will avoid the news for a bit still as too much of a bump back.

I was just reading about that. Another day, another reset 😂. Lyons has left before even warming his office chair. Improved comms won't help if the message is shit.

I see James Murray 🤢 has taken Jones' place in the treasury.

Good morning everyone; catching up with posts. Agree with @CruCru about not engaging with those who want to derail the thread. Looks like labour are in a right mess; it will be interesting to see what happens with the reshuffle but I'm not expecting great things. Interestingly, a lot more flags have turned up down a long stretch of commuter road near me. I do think these flags are a message to the government if they cared to listen.
