Constipation- someone PLEASE help me

HelpMeMelpHe · 14/08/2025 20:12

I have been constipated for 7 days. That may not sound like a lot but I usually go 2/3 times a day without issue. I was away on holiday and ate crap food and basically survived on crisps and pizza as I was so hot I had no appetite.

I am currently lying on the bed in tears, I have tried:
orange juice
4 suppositories
3 x enemas
putting my feet up
relaxing
black coffee
a special vitamin tablet which DP says always makes him go
Drinking loads of water
pushing from inside my vagina
actually trying to manually remove the stool (sorry for the way TMI)
sitting in a warm bath
massaging my stomach
dulcolex

ill be ringing my GP first thing in the morning but can ANYONE suggest anything else. I’m in a total panic, I can just feel the rock hard stool, I’m in agony, shaking and it hurts to walk. To top it off I’m on my period which I hoped would get things going but nothing. Someone please help I am desperate and I’m worried my gp will just prescribe everything I’ve already tried. I’m a nurse and working all weekend and at this point I can’t see how I can go into work which would leave my team in the absolute shit (pardon the pun). I don’t know what to do 🫨🫨

A big fat line of coke used to work quite well for me.

Sorry, meant to quote @Mrsbloggz

ZippyDeer · 15/08/2025 21:16

Not read all the posts but do agree with a pp. The only time I’ve had constipation was after an operation and realised how awful it is, not that you just can’t go but that it is so uncomfortable. The advice I had from specialist nurses was to get your knees above your hips. Luckily had a small stool (sorry!) that was the right height and it worked a treat.

Are you a doctor? I really feel that Op should follow her GP’s advice.

The thing is some GPs simply have no idea. My DS was severely constipated but GP said no because no faeces felt with finger in rectum. Paid to go private and paediatrician said he was one if the most severely impacted toddlers he’d ever seen. Said he could feel the mass of faeces from the outside of the abdomen and wrote quite a scathing letter to the GP. It too years to finally sort as GP wouldn’t accept private diagnosis and I ran out of money for the private prescriptions. (Paediatric movicol is prescription only).

Constipation? Put examination glove on, coat fingers with vaseline and break up rock best you can

Pressthespacebar · 15/08/2025 21:24

I got badly constipated on mounjaro I think I was going once a week the whole time I was on it. In the end I discovered eating two kiwi fruits with the skin on relieved it, sometimes within a couple of hours!

MabelMoo23 · 15/08/2025 21:29

Am so invested in this thread - both because hoping the OP has had a poo but also because I’ve got prolapse repair surgery in a couple of weeks and the biggest thing I’ve been warned about is not to get constipated because any straining could / will cause the internal stitches to rupture and the surgery will fail

CatKings · 15/08/2025 21:30

DH has been to the hospital with impaction (he has ongoing bowel issues) they just sent him home with movicol (which he takes anyway) but to take huge quantities.

I think a lot of people don’t understand the difference between constipation and impaction. If you are impacted you need to rehydrate everything to get it out.

londongirl12 · 15/08/2025 21:32

This is the first time I’ve checked up on a thread to see if the Op has pooped 🤣

ChristmasMiracleBaby · 15/08/2025 21:34

I feel for you op something similar happened to me a few years ago it was awful. Sad
I couldn't sit down in work I was in agony from the mass in my rectum, tried everything. Went on holiday in this state and ended up shoving a glove on and manually breaking it up somehow so I could go.. The relief was immense.
Was terrified for a few months after that it would happen again.

I am on MJ and worrying about this! Not sure about kiwi skin....but noted 🤢

OP - I hope you're out the other side of this now. Sounds horrendous.

Isn’t this just due to what the coke is cut with?

So maybe bypass the class A’s and just rack up the Laxido into lines and snort that??

Ecstasy used to do it to me, too.

Like clockwork!

Whatifwewereallperfect · 15/08/2025 21:48

Can you get to a supermarket? Fresh figs, apricots, kiwi, dates, prune juice all might help.

Alliod40 · 15/08/2025 21:49

Im on morphine 8 years and one of the side effects is severe constipation and let me tell ya I've sat screaming in pain where and the amount of blood I used to loose..I wouldn't go for 10 days at a time..I'm still on it but I take dulcolax everyday and go most days now,I used to take lactulose and movicol in high amounts to try relieve the severe constipation and it did help..

Brown sugar mixed in a small amount of warm water

Then after 2 big spoons of 'Andrews' mixed in water

There’s a blast from the past.

I haven’t heard of Andrews mentioned for donkeys years.

Itiswhysofew · 15/08/2025 21:52

I wouldn't be worried about not being able to go. My mum's GP told her that the longest he's known of someone not being able to go is 3 weeks.

Have you tried liquid paraffin or glycerin suppositories?

Kellph83 · 15/08/2025 21:52

Caster oil. A spoonful and you’ll be well unlocked! Order off Amazon to get it on prime.
you’re welcome!

I find circular massage below my navel pressing on hard with my hand moves on the blockage that clears within a half hour or so. It always works for me

Do you really think that massaging your naval is going to shift a blockage. Humans have approximately 25 feet of small intestine and 5 feet of long intestine. Will take a lot of massaging

Overnightfloats · 15/08/2025 21:54

OP, I have not been invested as much in a thread for a long time. I hope you feel better soon or now but please let us know once you have properly “been”. There are lots of people who deserve a closure 😁 Good luck!

That’s terrible advice, quite frankly. You absolutely should be worried about that.

The OP is in a bad way, bless her.

I didnt go for three weeks, I was throwing up bile and all sorts of residues that couldn’t go down at age 14. I don’t recommend waiting that long at all! The last time i went over 3 weeks was in pregnancy and again I had to go to hospital to get sorted.

just because you can do something like with lots of things doesnt mean you should!

JB279 · 15/08/2025 22:05

Lactulose

You can't buy Andrews anymore. They've stopped making it.

Come on OP, have you managed to birth that lava rock yet?!

😆 Awwww, sorry to laugh @HelpMeMelpHe I really hope you're OK. Flowers

Have you heard of EFT it is tapping on points to relax your body . Have a look on you tube . I think you have got yourself too uptight and need to relax a bit . I got constipated after taking medication and I had the idea to tap and it worked pretty quickly.
