Witches - spell help

Hey, looking for some advice as in all the years of spell work I have never had this happen before.

i did a spell on the full moon, all very well intentioned, to help me save money. I lit a candle in a special place to me, set my intention, and the candle blew out quite quickly. It was near a window, so I took it to mean spell completed ie wish made.

i took the candle home and lit it again later on the lionsgate portal night to strengthen my resolve. The wax kind of dripped on to my finger and burned me a lot. I’ve never had that happen before. I looked it up and some say it’s a warning (what can it be warning me about, it’s literally just to make me save money 😂) or - very differing view - the spell needed some kind of karmic or energy payment from me, and I “paid” with the burn to add strength and resolve to the spell.

any thoughts? I’ve done this a long time and never cast bad or ill intentioned spells so I don’t know what this was about! Has someone hexed me?

blessed be x

This makes total sense. Body parts are home to meridians, and the thumb, big toe and earlobes are all about your ‘core essence’. This sounds crazy but when I’ve had strong intentions I’ll often get a heavy knock on a body part, it’s source energy literally helping to deliver a rush of ‘energy’ to this ‘part’ of you.
You sent out a request, your spirit went okay whammo, this will help you become more of ‘who’ you are because being more of who you are helps money flow.
Yes, there’s your daily dose of woo-woo.

So nothing to do with adrenaline and the sympathetic nervous system causing the pulse rate and blood flow to parts essential for escaping or fighting a predator to increase and hormones/blood flow for digestion and sleep to decrease? Just a core essence rather than our animal brains trying to keep us alive instead of becoming a sabre toothed cat or dire wolf's dinner?

Is this is true then you really do need to look around more and have a little more curiosity about the world. I don’t want to diminish you but it’s a really common sight almost everywhere. Turkish people in London hang it on their homes and in shops and on keys, it’s everywhere.

Most people pay very little attention to what’s going on around them.

It is an extremely common problem in the modern world - we have become disconnected from nature and the spiritual. Such a material and narrow outlook is having negative impacts on society left, right and centre. We see evidence of this all around us and it manifests in so many ways.

We are meant to believe life is better this way, but plenty of people are not happy. We are meant to believe what we are spoon-fed in an outdated educational and political system which doesn’t encourage us to challenge scientific “fact”. The vast majority of people live small and uninteresting lives, and that is how the modern world wants us to be, so a small elite can prosper while the rest of us sink or swim, uncomplaining.

The fact that we have a lottery in which you have an incomprehensibly small chance of joining the materialist elite, is significant. It’s an emblem, a ritual, a sop for the missing spirituality and hope in people’s lives. It sickens me.

It is no coincidence that several people have asked why you don’t magic up the lottery numbers. Unsurprisingly they have missed the point entirely. Their belief system is completely unshakeable - their faith in their science and materialism has all the hallmarks of a religion.

It was ever thus - the free-thinkers will always be identified as the common foe, mocked and treated as “other”.

Fascinating really to see it play out on MN on a sunny mid week morning.

It is whatever you want it to be. The message is yours to take. I always take a single magpie as good luck even though the rhyme (which someone will tell me in a moment they’ve never heard and no one else on the planet ever heard and it’s all a part of my mental illness) says it’s one for sorrow: because think of all the days you don’t see one 🥹

I love magpies so also see one as good luck

Before you looked it up, what was your first reaction - after ouch, I mean? What was the feeling, before the first thought formed?

I gave you the link to the meaning.
You lived in one of the largest communities of Turkish Cypriot diaspora in London.

i can show you again but at some point you have to start taking responsibility for your own knowledge. Set an intention, make a wish 😂

The purpose of these evil eyes is to PROTECT FROM HEXES 😂 but yeah Im the mad one

Just because lots of people believe in a cultural delusion that doesn't make it real.

Id cite the belief in God as an example.

Why did you have to start this off with such a negative post? I am not a witch but was looking forward to hearing the answers.

Would love to hear more about witchcraft.

I think there is a witchcraft forum @Phatgurslyms on here.

Thank you for being one of my biggest supporters on this thread. You are amazingly thoughtful and articulate and I hope you have a great day 💫

I live in SE England. Ain’t no sabre cat tigers or dire wolves in these parts.

Where the heck do you live??

PrayMore · 14/08/2025 12:47

Demonic. Witchcraft won't end well for you.

ClaredeBear · 14/08/2025 12:47

lastminutetrip · 14/08/2025 11:27

Sure. If you blow out the candles on a birthday cake and make a wish, is that not the same?

How about knocking on wood for luck?

Edited

I would be very worried for anyone who believed this tradition would in anyone help them achieve anything except pass on a virus.

It’s that she said she’d never seen it. I gave her the link so I find that both unbelievable and just another attempt to diminish someone.

which is kind of similar to a hex 😂

How miserable. Whether you believe in what the OP is saying or not, giving up stuff like wishes and birthday candles just because you deem yourself "too old now" is kind of sad.

It's sad to think the only joy in life comes from making wishes and indulging in woo. I have much richer sources of enjoyment in my life!

There’s nothing to be worried about, there’s nothing in it, except a lack of critical thinking which believers of all regions suffer from. But she won’t burst into flames if that’s what you’re implying.

No, she said she'd never heard of the eye of Fatma, which is not a well-known term for many people.

Mirabai · 14/08/2025 12:50

So have you saved any money?

My thoughts are how on earth can anyone believe in this utter nonsense?

I think religion is utter nonsense too, yet it's something forced upon society. Can't go into town without a bunch of preachers trying to convince me that I must believe or I'm going to burn forever. But people have their own beliefs and are free to believe what they like. I don't do this stuff personally, but I've never had a witch approach me in the streets to convince me to believe that way. I know which ones less problematic in society.

Going back many years, my OH was talking to a shaman from the Hopi nation. He explained about Hopi ear candles. The shaman looked at him incerdulaously and said "Let me get this right - you pay someone to stick a candle in your ear and light it?" My OH confirmed this was the case. The shaman responded "Damn, I missed my calling. I bet they'd pay more for a real shaman to do it!"

The Hopis have repeatedly asked woo practitioners to stop naming this nonsense after them, but the woo crowd won't oblige.
