I haven't watched PMQs but this is funny

https://bsky.app/profile/maxbrockbank.com/post/3ltjqg4o2jc27

The Speaker of the house has excellent comic timing.

Starmer at PMQs: "We will continue to go after the fraudsters, the grifters and the con artists, no matter who they are or where we find them!"
Mr Speaker: "Nigel Farage!"

Brilliant comic timing. Love it. Badenoch continued to be ineffective. I wonder if she'll last a year.

Not if Jenrick has anything to do with it, I’ve never seen such naked ambition.

The Tories love to present themselves as the party of unity. The reality is very different. I agree with you about Jenrick. @BIossomtoes

Jenrick? didn't he over turn a planning decision, saving a tory donor friend many millions...

I don't get how this sort of behaviour is condoned.

Oh, joy

Police have confirmed they are preparing for a potential visit by US President Donald Trump to Scotland later this month.

Not a state visit, a golfing holiday it seems.

I hope someone is ready to. Take on Janey Godley’s mantle.

placemats · 09/07/2025 16:22

Everybody should just ignore Trump because he should be paying for security and not us the taxpayers.

cardibach · 09/07/2025 16:24

I agree really @placemats
he should pay for his own security. Or be denied entry due to his criminal record - if he’s com8ng as a private citizen we don’t need to make allowances. Given people won’t ignore, we need as much swearing as possible though, I feel. It sets a tone.

Quite. He’s so obvious and then when asked he repeats “It’s not a job up to be filled” or something along those lines!

placemats · 09/07/2025 16:30

Don't swear because he gets off on that. A tone that includes the horrible word c**t is disrespectful to all the women he abused.

That is genuinely funny.

There was an article (a couple actually) by an anonymous ex Tory MP that described needing to get rid of a whole swathe of the current Tory MPs.
Indeed it called for the party to actively pick a fight with anyone that didnt think they should lead the charge to leave the ECHR.
It referenced Johnson's purge of anyone that didnt BeLeave in Brexit.

The funny thing is that getting rid of those MPs was probably Step 3? 4? in the descent of the party and signalled the end of rational thought as far as I can see.

It also referred to Badenoch lazy and arrogant and hoped she had been removed by the time of the conference.

I'm no fan of Badenoch (an autism diagnosis for children does not impart advantages over other children you disabilist knob) but even I thought it was rather vitriolic and a hatchet job.

If he's coming for a private visit then yes I dont understand why we'd need to pay for it.

My view is that if he is coming as a private citizen then he has to fulfil the requirements any other private citizen would. Not sure if that would get him in what with a conviction and all that.

If a bunch of concerned citizens wanted to keep an eye on him (we all know how wary the UK is of foreigners with criminal pasts) then that's part of the joy of life.

Protesters could stand downstream of nearby rivers with signs that may suggest that there's a smell of shit in the river.

Jake Berry has defected to Reform. I had to look him up tbh!

I assume all the Johnson&Truss coterie of ex MPs are pretty desperate to defect to Reform.

Another rat deserting the sinking ship.

Yes! Despite all the pro-Reform threads on MN, Reform has slipped from its high point. The only way is down, baby...

DuncinToffee · 09/07/2025 22:57

That is likely why there are so many Reform threads then

Unfortunately, I didn’t have to look him up, as I already know what a mendacious, self-serving, full of hot air, community-dividing pillock he is Sad
Joining Reform doesn’t surprise me at all, as he no doubt hopes there are enough “I’m not racist me, but……” people in his constituency to vote for him.
