I can’t bring myself to look at X. What’s she been saying?

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2025 11:10

I think she has fabricated reports of serious crime & antisocial behaviour linked to asylum seekers in HMOs on there

(did a quick search on Nitter)

Thanks Duncin.

I'm not sure. Reform hasn't factored in Sarah Pochin. Her recent posts on X are mind bogglingly awful.

She's just awful full stop. I hope the person I know in her constituency who didn't vote because she thought the Labour candidate had common speech and cheap clothes is proud of her decision. 6 bloody vote majority...

placemats · 07/07/2025 18:06

Pochin is an ex Conservative Mayor of Cheshire East council. Some cross party respect for her when she was a Tory. Scratch the surface and give free reign - i.e. join Reform - and the venom boils over.

She never stops. There's never a tweet about how good the constituency is in terms of promoting new businesses and initiatives.

C'est bien.

Farage's party lashes out at Macron ‘snub’.
French president will meet with Tory and Liberal Democrat leaders on UK trip — but right-populist outfit Reform UK is not on the agenda.

But she has stopped the boats.........

She is probably one of these common sense ones

Would you expect Keir Starmer to meet Madame Le Pen? Who has far more seats in the French Parliament than four, and has not lost a third of those elected last year.

Only if they had something specific to discuss.

Tice is never happier than when pretending to be outraged.

placemats · 07/07/2025 20:36

Reform MPs are always outraged. It's their raison d'etre.

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2025 20:44

Aston that this has been able to happen for as long as it has -

Bosses in the UK will be banned from using non-disclosure agreements to silence employees who have suffered harassment and discrimination in the workplace as part of the government’s overhaul of workers’ rights.
Ministers will on Monday night table amendments to the government’s employment rights bill to prohibit the widespread practice of using legally enforceable NDAs to conceal unacceptable behaviour at work.

It's never been clear in the UK (and indeed US) whether courts have allowed NDAs to trump criminal investigations.

In legal theory la-la land, it should not be possible to form a contract around an illegal action. Yet somehow, in the name of business, it appears to be allowed to tell the police to fuck off if you have signed an NDA.

As the recent MI5 lying to court shows that much like our airports, the legal system definitely has tow tracks. "Them" and "us".

Notonthestairs · 08/07/2025 08:56

There was an excellent podcast from The News Agents on this topic two years which covered it in some detail in the context of Westminster. And I think it was discussed again more recently with Zelda Perkins - Perkins worked for Weinstein and has been campaigning about this for years.

Another case of "I didn't know he was still around." 94. He will have missed the Private Eye deadline as that is the perfect age for them.

😂

My ex leafleted for him in his student days. Turned out he wasn't much of a fan of getting on his bike.

DuncinToffee · 08/07/2025 09:59

What is the story behind the bike comments?

OP posts:
BIossomtoes · 08/07/2025 10:03

Tebbitt’s solution to unemployment when the country was in recession was that people should get on their bikes and look for nonexistent jobs in other parts of the country.

DuncinToffee · 08/07/2025 10:05

What is the story behind the bike comments?

As unemployment was rising in the early 80s, Lord Tebbit said that back in the 30s when he were a lad, his Dad didn't whine about being unemployed, but he got on his bike. You could have powered the UK for a century with the warm glow the right wing gave off after that.

He also famously proposed the cricket test for immigrants.
