Sure Start is coming back.

The Labour government is to open 1000 Best Start Family Hubs covering every local authority. The first will be in place by April 2026 & all by 2028.

They will combine existing Family Hubs & the Start for Life programme & also cover areas without these services.

The hubs will offer support services to families from before birth through to health and wellbeing services.

I believe this is likely to be an England-only announcement.

Just came to say I watched this on BBc news this morning. Cant tell you how happy it made me to hear it.

I won't celebrate yet, indeed may never do, until Mr Johnson is where he should be, serving life imprisonment. As I have said on this or other threads, my lifelong opposition to the death penalty is the sole reason I don't want to see him hang.

Apparently Mr Johnson is not planning to return to politics because his latest wife wants a new kitchen which has to be funded.

Well said. If I weren't opposed to the death penalty I'd like to see his head on a spike on Traitors " Gate.

Excellent news about Best Start! Work needs to be done targeting support to the families who need it most, but a very encouraging development.

Really pleased with this initiative excellent news.

Another one happy about Sure Start. They really did help - it was a stigma free one-stop shop that parents could go to where kids were welcomed. I wish they had still been around post-Covid when families were suffering the fallout.

I think the fact that it’s not getting any attention is an indication of how completely irrelevant the Tories are right now.

Also such a completely batshit proposal (even if St. Kemi denies it, the damage is done) actually allows a cunning Farage to pop up and say that pure extremism and not the sort of thing Reform would be looking at. Providing himself and his supporters with a fig leaf of moderation.

That proposal is far more Lowe than Farage, so indeed he can easily pop up and offer that fig leaf
