Was just checking in to say Reform are now 4 but see duncintoffee beat me to it.
IT has been quite a week this week. Matt Hancock is probably very relieved to have distractions from his appearance at the Covid inquiry! 🙄

Matt should be prosecuted. As should the other fellow James.

Oh that’s a tough on you all pickachew & sadly some men do have real difficulties in dealing with & expressing grief it can be a torturous process 💐

Agreed 🌺💕

All this shows just how much money was wasted due to fraud during CV, money handed out to shell companies with no employees, no checks, no ability to repay.
Yet the people responsible will go on to get knighthoods and peerages.

Meanwhile 2 child benefit cap stays and we seek to recoup money from people with severe disabilities.

Morning! Does anyone have a share token please for the article on James McMurdick*?

*Typo, but oh so apt.

Sure Start is coming back.

The Labour government is to open 1000 Best Start Family Hubs covering every local authority. The first will be in place by April 2026 & all by 2028.

They will combine existing Family Hubs & the Start for Life programme & also cover areas without these services.

The hubs will offer support services to families from before birth through to health and wellbeing services.

I believe this is likely to be an England-only announcement.

You lot may all be going on about "a year of Keir". Me, I like to celebrate three years since this happened, beginning an absolutely joyous 48 hours of Johnson's inevitable, comic and widely-longed-for demise.

I won't celebrate yet, indeed may never do, until Mr Johnson is where he should be, serving life imprisonment. As I have said on this or other threads, my lifelong opposition to the death penalty is the sole reason I don't want to see him hang.

Apparently Mr Johnson is not planning to return to politics because his latest wife wants a new kitchen which has to be funded.

Well said. If I weren't opposed to the death penalty I'd like to see his head on a spike on Traitors " Gate.

Very pleased about Sure Start. It made a real difference to me after my youngest was born and we were struggling with hospital appointments.

PandoraSocks · 06/07/2025 13:52

Thanks @BIossomtoes and @DuncinToffee

BIossomtoes · 06/07/2025 13:57

Oh, pleased it worked, it doesn’t always.

Saucery · 06/07/2025 14:11

Excellent news about Best Start! Work needs to be done targeting support to the families who need it most, but a very encouraging development.

Really pleased with this initiative excellent news.

Deafnotdumb · 06/07/2025 16:04

Another one happy about Sure Start. They really did help - it was a stigma free one-stop shop that parents could go to where kids were welcomed. I wish they had still been around post-Covid when families were suffering the fallout.

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2025 10:19

WTF, shadow Home Office minister Matt Vickers,

This really is not getting the attention it should. The Tories' latest proposal is to exclude "any household that includes any foreign national from any benefit"

And when asked about it, they keep citing small boat crossings - a minute fraction of migration - to justify it. ~AA

I think the fact that it’s not getting any attention is an indication of how completely irrelevant the Tories are right now.

Also such a completely batshit proposal (even if St. Kemi denies it, the damage is done) actually allows a cunning Farage to pop up and say that pure extremism and not the sort of thing Reform would be looking at. Providing himself and his supporters with a fig leaf of moderation.

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2025 10:33

That proposal is far more Lowe than Farage, so indeed he can easily pop up and offer that fig leaf

I'm not sure. Reform hasn't factored in Sarah Pochin. Her recent posts on X are mind bogglingly awful.

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2025 11:01

True, and there are the Reform councillors.

Only last week
1 arrested/charged with assault during a Pride parade
1 appeared in court accused of threats to kill wife
1 under investigation of Covid fraud
