Splitters

placemats · 03/07/2025 21:49

Hardly splitting the vote. She got into Parliament on a Labour party ticket and support.

PandoraSocks · 03/07/2025 21:57

Jezza and Zarah would do well to remember when Labour Party MPs joined Change UK because they found Jezza too left wing. Where is that party now?

Corbyn needs to fuck off, to be frank. He had his chance. And I say that as someone whose politics are very much Corbyn-esque.

PandoraSocks · 03/07/2025 22:11

LBC reportingbthat the new party has come as a surprise to Corbyn.

So who knows what is happening?

Yes and my opinion is the same whenever someone moves to another party, regardless of which party they're moving from and to. If you no longer want to represent the party you were elected to serve, there should be a by election.

cardibach · 03/07/2025 22:23

I agree @ilovesooty
People usually vote for a party and its policies, not a personality. Let the constituents vote on whatever it is this new party stands for.

The Socialist Party of Jeremy Corbyn’s Front Room reject the splitters of the Socialist Party of Jeremy Corbyn’s Kitchen who are refusing to share the biscuit tin with comrades.

All Hobnobs to the Soviets!

Reform's first 2 ever council defences were tonight, and they've lost both of them. (Durham and Nottinghamshire)

On actually policy and not drama, I see the government’s “NHS in your pocket” app and plan was launched yesterday.

The coverage is quite good! Yes lots of skepticism but put in its proper context; people like the principle of the NHS but they think currently it’s not very good.

On the launch, I can see that Keir Starmer highjacked Wes Streeting’s moment. But even that is sensible; shows engagement with a very important concern and domestic policy. Not sure on the demonstrative hug with Reeves, but this was actually arranged and put together well. Like an actual competent Labour government.

More please, and whoever put that together, let them do more of it.

Notonthestairs · 04/07/2025 08:46

Each election will have cost £1000s.
Perhaps small change to some but an unnecessary expense all the same.

Where is that from, please Bombastix?

bombastix · 04/07/2025 09:23

Politico does an average of all polls @PandoraSocks which you can see on its front page if you scroll down. Unfortunately they don’t let you link to it separately. But it’s a handy way to see how polls track against events. It also gives a bit of context as how well a party is actually doing rather than relying on one alone.

Happy Freedom from the Tories Day!😸🍻🥂

Today, I will be mostly ignoring all the no doubt incoming doom-mongering threads about Labour's first year office. Thank goodness there are no bots on Mumsnet, eh?

Re: Sultana. It seems now that she has joined Corbyn's Idependent Alliance group which is obviously not a political party yet.

I think she has messed up here.

Close, but reflux still 3rd in Benfieldside. Hopefully people in our county are starting to see through them.

I had to hunt for a article on it. Found one in the Northern Echo, which is even worse for ads than our other main regional news outlet. New councillor said that the 23k the by-election cost should come out of the pockets of the millionaires funding Reform so that it can actually be used to benefit the area. I can't see that happening.

I think the government's reaction to Palestine Action is ridiculous. Spray painting fighter jets isn't terrorism.

In the UK, you can be jailed for opposing genocide but not for supporting
it

I was pondering last night, why MPs who abandon the party they stood for aren't held personally liable for some of their election campaign costs ?

SerendipityJane · 04/07/2025 09:56

I already have 4 "NHS" apps on my phone. Plus two "portals" I need to log in to.

No mention on Farage's twitter feed. Ain't that strange?

Might she argue the party abandoned her and her constituents, rather than the other way round? I think many of her Coventry South voters would agree with her.
