I can’t believe I’m not seeing more threads on this. Starmer back israel against Iran. Other Muslim countries are supporting Iran.

I just watched the video of a British trauma surgeon speaking of how the quadcopters would come and kill off any surviving Palestinian children after a bomb attack. No doubt some sick Pro-Netanyahu poster will come along and say they’re performing a moral kindness.

I don’t know if it’s WW3 yet, but we’re complicit in the most barbaric ‘warfare’ (genocide), and I fear for the fact USA and Israel are answerable to no one.

Iranians may be desperate for the regime to end, but they’re heartbreakingly naive if they think Israel won’t carpet bomb them in the process.

I wish all manner of ills on Netanyahu, every IDF soldier and Trump. I also bizarrely wish for some wake up call to every person in my life who drifts through without acknowledging such mass murder and trampling of our universal protections.

The surgeon is talking absolute total BS. Just because people say things doesn't make it true. He is an activist pushing an agenda.

Nah. Netanyahu knew fine well Iran would retaliate, that’s his intention, he wants to pull America and anyone else into a larger destruction of Iran (and Palestine but he has less now to justify this with). It feels like a big game of Risk to him.

Israel might just have prevented WW3 if they’ve taken out Iran’s nuclear weapon capability.

This. Their leaders are potentially the only ones mad enough to use nuclear weapons as they may want martyrdom.

That said, maybe they don't really, and suicide bombing and the like is only for other people to do.

But I'd prefer not to take the chance.

dynamiccactus · 15/06/2025 09:22

And Iran isn't along the lines of North Korea. NK is a mad, oppressive state, but their upper echelons have too nice a life to indulge in MAD.

As I said above, I'd like to think that the same applies to the mullahs in Iran, but am not up for taking a chance on that.

Nope it has not started. Although if it was it would be a first that it was not the Europeans starting a mess.

I just want us to stay well out of it. This is not our problem.

Don't believe it - it will all come back to Sykes-Picot and still be our fault. As if the people who live in the Middle East now have no free will to make their own decisions.

Intel was that the rate of nuclear development was speeding up and Iran intended to supply some of the 9 nuclear bombs, once made, to its proxies eg Houthis, Hezbollah.

Waiting for the IAEA to analyse, vote, respond and thensubmit a petition to Iran asking them nicely to please stop and have a cup of tea instead was going to take too long.

I am sure people will say "Oh, the Israelis are evil & Mossad made that up, the Islamic Republic of Iran are beautiful and peaceful and would never use a bomb".

Thankfully those incredibly naive people (although some are actually paid to join messaging boards and spread disinformation) are not the ones making decisions.

Watchdog finds Iran failing to meet nuclear obligations

Iran condemns the resolution passed by the IAEA's board of governors as "political" and says it will open a new uranium enrichment facility.

It would be nice if we remembered that Hamas is using those children as human shields, hiding amongst the population - which is just as much a war crime as bombing civilians.
What makes you think the UK, a permanent member of the Security Council and the possessor of armed forces able to project internationally even when severely depleted and a key member of NATO and AUKUS etc - is irrelevant?

Edited

Still banging on your Hamas human shields drum even now. Funny state of affairs when an entire population is a human shield 🙄

Stop with that "human shields" bollocks.

If Hamas were hiding out in Israeli towns do you think Israel would be bombing the shit out of them? Not a bleedin chance. There would be strategic strikes just as it has done elsewhere.

When the IRA bombed Warrington, Manchester, London, would the British have been just in sending over planes to drop bombs on buildings in Irish towns? As a kid I went to see wrestling in my local community centre (saw Giant Haystacks on one occasion) and there were about 300 in there. If there was an IRA member among the crowd (and there is every chance there could have been), would it have been just to blow us all up to take out one person?

Mad leadership is hardly the preserve of the Iranians

If Israel take out the Iranian leadership, do they think a nice progressive is going to take over?

Bluebrain · 15/06/2025 09:48

Not a world wide war. Russia has started a war against Ukraine that has not yet led to formal involvement with a Western country.
Russia is threatening Finland and other Baltics countries and Russia is strongly thought to be behind some of the cyber attacks on businesses in the West and the cutting of power cables.
Is Russia encouraging Migrants and and the Pro Palestine anti Israel movements?
Perhaps it is Guerrilla warfare?

40weeksmummy · 15/06/2025 08:45

But if UK would be in trouble, you would expect US to help?

US soil is not being attacked.
But if UK soil were under attacked, Trump will not assist. Trump is rather busy with his pro Russia, ME meddling, Canada, Greenland threatening and economic war. He has no commitment to NATO. He actually cut all support to Ukraine, including intelligence, earlier this year. Or did you miss that? In the middle of attacks and while being rather friendly with Putin.
Read about how long it took Churchill to get US involved.
It will be the same, or actually worst.
There are zero reasons to get involved following US as a puppy.
UK needs to put all the energy and resources in defending ourselves.

They’ll be hoping a puppet gets installed or otherwise they’ll leave an even more dangerous and unstable power vacuum.
The people of Iran deserve so much better all round

You've conveniently left out the bit about why Palestiniens have been killed during the last two years. Because the terrorist leaders decided it would be fun to kidnap torture and murder Israeli civillians. Israel have asked Hamas to release the remaining hostages. Once that's done the war will be done.

The leader will be replaced with someone just as draconian, and they'll be less inclined to cooperate with peace deals. They've killed the chief negotiator, but I believe they were talking to the US about loosening sanctions in exchange halting their arms programme.

I can't believe anyone actually believes that Israel will stop ethnic cleansing if they get back the remaining hostages. It's like believing in the tooth fairy.

DeffoNeedANameChange · 15/06/2025 07:41

Because Israel aren't calling for the total destruction of Iran.

Iran absolutely cannot hold their position on the destruction of Israel whilst also advancing their nuclear programme.

They did however call for the destruction of Gaza in the UN general council September 2023.
They showed a map with Gaza replaced with Israel

Netanyahu and his far right Government are and have been of a similar mindset
There are no good guys here
