Did anyone (probably the vegetarians) try Tivall sausages (frozen veggie frankfurters) or Tartex mushroom paste? Quite liked the Tartex served in a vol-au-vent with some chopped up herbs or thin slices of raw pepper.😍

Well, it's not me who thinks Skips and Findus Crispy pancakes are from the nineties, so you may want to slow it down a little yourself there 🍷@ThisCraftyHelper you're a bit confused pet, have a lie down.

Too Good to Be True Ice Cream with that chocolate sauce that set hard in contact with the ice cream.

Boomy ice lollies.

Do you know what food I really HATED in the 90s? Pointless whinging bitch burgers. Those were my least favourite burgers ever. They ruined the 90s for me and made me want to punch them in the cunt.

Smash was very popular. I still remember the tin it was in. I actually think you can still buy it now.

You can! My kids absolutely love it!

Ginburee · 31/05/2025 01:08

Seabrook sweetcorn flavour crisps and um bongo.

Lindajonesjustcantlivemylife · 31/05/2025 01:13

Sweetcorn crisps 🤢🤮

coxesorangepippin · 31/05/2025 01:43

Anyone remember that billy bear processed luncheon meat (hate that expression)? We weren't allowed it as kids

I did spend the majority of my adolescence eating 30p Cadbury caramels, those were the days etc

harriettenightingale · 31/05/2025 02:22

Findus crispy pancakes

Sosmix

Beanfeast

Heinz sandwich spread (my goto school packed lunch was sandwich spread and cheese and crisps and a club biscuit (raisin ones were the best)

Spira or marble bar but I’d settle for any cadburys chocolate made in the 90s

golden wonder sausage and tomato crisps

An amazing chocolate dessert in a mini tub with a cardboard top called a “chocolate lovely” - was stored in the freezer and was a milk chocolatey cross between ice cream and a really rich chocolate pot. It had a little pattern of a flower on top in artificial cream. My gran used to get them in bulk for me as I loved them.

Vates · 31/05/2025 07:34

Meatballs in a tin, ate tons of them during the 90's. Beef and tomato pot noodles with way too much extra tomato ketchup added. Toast toppers that we always had for supper at my Auntie's house.

Casper ice lollies that had blue goo in the middle.

I had a supermarket demo job as a student, and once had to give out samples of Billy Bear meat. I grabbed a pack and chopped all the slices into neat little squares and stuck a toothpick in each one. It was whimsical bear meets Hellraiser.

They were called screwballs.
I tried one a couple of years back not as I remembered them as a kid.

Hopefully this is going to be a thread about crap food and not a debate about the exact date each food debuted...

Mini Kiev's
Hamwich
Turkey Drummers

Fray bentos Steak and 3 Veg pie.

Vesta crispy noodles. I think the meal was a beef curry of some sort but it came with the crispy noodles and I was obsessed.

Birdseye Chicken Burgers. Used to have them with a massive onion ring on top, slice of tomato and mayonnaise.

My mum was and still is a terrible cook if you hadn't guessed.

Haha, I'd say the same about my mum 😅 she could make damn fine scotch eggs and Christmas cakes from scratch though!

I didn't realise just how terrible my childhood diet was until I met my DH. I did attempt to inflict crispy pancakes on my unwitting DC once but they were crap and my DH was appalled I'd even brought them in the house 😅 🙈😅

Vesta chow mein crispy noodles
Original Beef crispy pancakes (not today's poor excuses 😅)
Bernard Matthews Turkey drummers
Roast dinner = Bernard Matthews turkey roll thing

I remember fondly Brannigan Beef and Mustard crisps, god they were nice and I think Quarterback Crisps?
Spiras
Alpen was very posh and we only got those at the grandparents 😅
Vienetta on special occasions!
Christmas cake slices
My siblings liked microchips but I always thought they were rank and soggy!
Pushpops and nerds
Wham bars
Ricicles
Sherbet dips
Lion bars
Filling up a paper bag of penny sweets, telling the shop owner you had a £1 worth in there when there was easily a couple of quids worth in there 😅 I'm sure they never did believe you but you felt very big and clever 'getting away with it at the time' 😅

Hooch and Diamond White - felt so grown up 😅

Any of these still around now just aren't as good anymore.

C080889 · 31/05/2025 18:22

Not to derail the thread. But know of someone who covered their exes lawn in Smash powder.... clumps of mash potato in the grass.

I grew up in the 80’s/90’s, my mum used to go to the Sunday market and buy a huge broken biscuit box. They were pretty much all broken, as you’d expect 🤣, but very occasionally you’d get an unbroken chocolate digestive or custard cream or something. That was a win.

Plus she’d buy bensons spring onion crisps, 10 packs for a quid. Haven’t seen spring onion flavour crisps since, in fact I don’t even think bensons crisps exist any more. They were lush though.

Asda sell Golden Wonder Spring Onion Crisps.

I usually buy them when I’m food shopping.

Flying saucers sweets that were so deliciously sour you'd involuntary purse your lips.

Salt and vinegar Disco crisps that made your lips peel.

ThereIsACatOnMyLapAgain · 01/06/2025 17:41

Kinder Eggs with toys that you had to put together, not the nonsense figures today. I remember (very racist) toys that involved sticking bits into the plastic egg itself to make cartoon Native Americans. Excluding the casual stereotyping they were very clever.

Vitrolinsanity · 01/06/2025 20:24

Weight watchers ham and mushroom tagliatelle
Birds Eye potato crunchies
Mueller fruit corner
Pret
