Lordy. Because she remembers eating it (and probably it being popular) in the 90s. I expect there are things I remember eating in the 80s and associate with the 80s which <gasp> may have been eaten in the late 70s!

Well, yes, we all remember eating stuff ! People have even mentioned corned beef ! . You're not 5 year old children, for God's sake, can any of you imagine that things existed before gasp you were even born.

I can't believe how annoyed some people are getting that some of us remember things that were invented pre 1990 from our 90s childhoods. Ffs.
Just because something was invented in the 60s doesn't mean I didn't have it in the 90s.

Sheesh. I clicked on this thinking it would be a nice, lighthearted reminisce.

I would just ignore. She’s changed her name and now back for round 2 😂

Sunny D - 1963.

We didn't have it in the UK in 1963.
it was introduced here in the late 1990s when there was a huge publicity campaign. And it was called Sunny Delight not Sunny D.

We're well aware things existed before we were born. But we remember then from the 90s. What's so difficult to grasp?
In the same way my favourite Outfit in the 90s was my jeans worn with a bodysuit with a very low back. Despite both Jeans and bodysuits being invented before I was born.

Lauren, I technically didn’t say food that was invented in the 90s. But really who cares? It’s a silly thread that people are commenting on. It really isn’t that deep. But for some reason you’ve took offence to it and been pretty rude to a few people, swearing and telling them they are thickos. Why don’t you join in?

Because I wasn't eating Findus crispy pancakes and vienettas in the 90s .... I'm off to start my own thread about my favourite music FROM the 90s, ahh yes The Beatles and The Rolling Stones , my absolute faves.

PuddledPolly · 30/05/2025 22:22

excelledyourself · 30/05/2025 22:28

I googled Findus crispy pancakes the other night to see if they still exist! Loved them.

Also, what I think were called Turkey melts? I remember eating them anyway. I think I liked them!

Also remember some sort of microwave cheese and ham toastie?

McCain micro chicken wings, in the same style box as the microchips. Possibly early 2000’s.

Sun lollies

Golden Cups.

Well yes your are right, the Rolling Stones did release quite few songs in the 90s, can’t decide which one is my favourite though. The Beatles however did not, due to Lennon being shot. So you are wrong there I’m afraid. Let us now what people say though 😁

And more sweets:

Dennis the Menace and Desperate Dan bars
Woppa bars
Frosties, they were cola I think, and I’m sure you could get green ones. Minty?
Tooty Frooties

RosaMoline · 30/05/2025 22:34

More like 70s/80s but I remember thinking a Vesta Beef Chow Mein with crispy noodles was the best thing ever, and the findus mini pizzas (cook from frozen) that gave you 3rd degree burns on the roof of your mouth when you bit into one…ouch!!

NotMyRealAccount · 30/05/2025 22:40

My children were all born in the 1990s, and almost as soon as it appeared in the supermarkets Sunny Delight became a significant part of their fluid intake despite scaremongering newspaper features about how people were turning orange from drinking it. They'd outgrown it by the time it was renamed Sunny D.
Kit Kat Chunky.
Heinz tinned sponge puddings. They pre-dated the 1990s, but during the 1990s we ate quite a lot of them.
Walls Romantica, which was similar to Viennetta but round instead of rectangular.
Muller Light toffee flavour yogurt.
Tinned ratatouille.
Those things (I've forgotten what they were called, they were sold frozen and in packs of two) that were like a thin layer of tinned ratatouille inside a pastry lattice.
Vitalite spread.

@ThisCraftyHelper missing the point spectacularly there. Well I wouldn't have expected anything else from you. 😌 But well done you! on knowing that John Lennon was shot...see you can do it if you make the effort.

Lauren sweetie it’s called sarcasm, something that is obviously lost on you. We’re still all waiting to hear why you changed your name?

Wing dings. Frozen - barely any chicken on them - cooked wings that had been coated in the most amazing flavouring.
They sold them by the bag in Farmfoods.
I didn’t even wait until they were thawed. I’d sook them straight from the freezer till they went soft in my mouth 🤢🤣
I could kill for just one more…

Lardychops · 30/05/2025 22:50

I think tacos and fajitas -tex mex- style Mexican food also took off in the 90s but sadly my mum was having none of it. I left home in 92 and remember making tacos for meat eating boyfriend in a shared house —but instead of slicing fry/rump steak I chopped up stewing steak and fried it. Was tough as old boots and vile but I knew I was onto something.

party food changed in the 90s too with the Indian /Chinese frozen ‘picky bits’ on every buffet I ever went too.
I loved all that /esp a claggy spring roll dipped in the luminous red sauce.

Hedgingmybetching · 30/05/2025 22:51

Treacle pudding in a tin! (With loads of birds eye custard)

I used to love those individual pizzas in the shape of dinosaur feet.

Muller crunch corners.

You're all still waiting ??? 😆
What, like, all of you?
And yes, your "sarcasm" was lost on me, I failed to detect it....I'm not sure that it's there...would you care to check the definition of sarcasm, then come back to me and point out where exactly you were being sarcastic....I'll be eagerly awaiting your response.

Wigtopia · 30/05/2025 22:59
  • Billy Bear ham from the Sainsbury deli counter
  • nik naks (orange flavour or purple flavour) from the vending machine after swimming
  • Beef and tomato or sweet and sour pit noodle for when I couldn’t be bothered to make a sandwich for lunch as a teen
all so gross! But things tasted better in the past 🤭
