Inspired by the Sweets you used to hate as a child thread, I thought I’d start one about the sweets I loved as a child (and probably still love too).

Chocolate cigarettes - they has edible paper round them and came in a pack that looked like a real cigarette packet.

Anything coffee flavoured.

Swizzels double lollies.

Walnut whips - and the coffee walnut whips in particular.

I’m sure there are more - my memory is not as good as it used to be - even for sweets.

Nostalgia in a thread! So many memories. Dentyne chewing gum. Oddly I was allowed it quite young.

I seem to remember it having an odd chemical taste and having a whiff of germolene.. maybe false memories

Wonderful for blowing the hugest bubbles and really loud pops!

Everlasting toffee strips.

Animal bar chocolate; lots of different animal shapes and I could never bring myself to eat their heads so would store them in a drawer for months!

Loads of boiled sweets. Army and Navy, cough candy, rhubarb and custard.

Nestle crunch bars. Terry's Bitz mint chocolate.

Refreshers and polo's.

Bubbly bubble gum
Texan chew bar, you needed pretty strong teeth for those 😱

The different types of Boost bars, I’m sure there were 3, biscuit, peanut and another I can’t remember.

Mr Men icy lollies or those Dracula ones.

Getting 2 sweets for a penny in your mix up as some only cost 1/2 a penny!

The drink Quattro

Dentyne chewing gum - I loved it!

B0D · 30/05/2025 23:03

My school tuck shop sold huge pink blackcurrant liquorice humbugs shaped sweets that would take half a day to eat!

lashy · 30/05/2025 23:09

Mumbo Jumbo bars (like a mango flavoured Wham bar, minus the fizzy bits).

A little plastic coffin with a hard candy skeleton inside. 20p back in the mid-80's.

Milky Lunch bar. Bit like a creamier, firmer version of a Milky Way.

Fruit 'Liquorice Alsorts'. Jeeze they were good.

lifemakeover · 30/05/2025 23:10

Toffee crumble - does anyone remember that? You'd buy it in quarters. It was basically like a twix that had been through a food processor.

Actually, maybe it's the same as toffee crunch that some PP have mentioned?

Dracula lollies?... do you mean the shiny bright red oval shaped lollies which cost 5p each, mid-eighties?
Thought I was the only person to remember those things. Yum.

Andoutcomethewolves · 30/05/2025 23:15
