Inspired by the Sweets you used to hate as a child thread, I thought I’d start one about the sweets I loved as a child (and probably still love too).

Chocolate cigarettes - they has edible paper round them and came in a pack that looked like a real cigarette packet.

Anything coffee flavoured.

Swizzels double lollies.

Walnut whips - and the coffee walnut whips in particular.

I’m sure there are more - my memory is not as good as it used to be - even for sweets.

Are you Scottish by any chance @ChocolateGanache ? I ask because I think Wham Bars were by MacGowans and not that well known outside Scotland? I do remember the lurid pink colour and the fizzy sprinkles….and the 10p ones were MAHOOSIVE…absolutely excellent at pulling out fillings!

I'm English and we were well into Wham bars as kids. I know they were Scottish but were definitely available and popular in England.

rc22 · 30/05/2025 21:39

In fact, @MamaBobo I could just eat a Wham bar now!!

worcesterpear · 30/05/2025 21:41

Blackjacks, those liquorice coils with a bobble thing in the middle (pink or blue aniseed flavour with bobbles all over), other types of liquorice. Probably loads more that I can't remember at the moment.

Apart from Spanish Gold Tobacco and sweet cigarettes? 😂

Spangles, and the fruity ones whose name I’ve forgotten.
