Particularly when followed by

'home made, not from the supermarket'

Get over your sour selves, sick of hearing about this

*disclaimer - I dont eat bread. I have no yeast in this game.

You'd probably be less grumpy if you had a lovely piece of sourdough toast.

EndlesslyDecluttering · 11/05/2025 17:12

Mmmm, I'm eating freshly made sourdough crumpets as I read this <gets coat>

Speckson · 11/05/2025 17:14

I am fed up with the fad for sourdough bread. It's full of big holes and goes stale quickly

Have you gone back to 2020?

RampantIvy · 11/05/2025 17:15

This is a you problem.
Just because you can't or won't eat bread doesn't mean that no-one else can.

DD makes brilliant sourdough bread BTW.

EndlesslyDecluttering · 11/05/2025 17:15

Slice it up, freeze it, toast it. Then it doesn't go stale.

Thecatsatonthemats · 11/05/2025 17:15

It’s the best thing since sliced bread.

SillyOP · 11/05/2025 17:16

You sound pretty sour dough

Scentedjasmin · 11/05/2025 17:16

Op, have you tried it toasted with crushed advocado and poached eggs? Or with bacon and dandelion leaves? Delicious.

Parcelit · 11/05/2025 17:16

Isn’t this a bit “Covid” Op?

Eminybob · 11/05/2025 17:17

Aww my lovely colleague gifted me some of her precious sour dough starter. It sat in my fridge for a couple of weeks then went in the bin. I have 2 children and 3 house plants to keep alive, I didn’t need the extra responsibility.

I don’t even like sour dough bread. Homemade or otherwise.

It’s not a fad. It’s the kind of bread everyone used to eat before processed supermarket bread was invented. I keep mine sealed in the fridge and it stays fresh for a week.

Scentedjasmin · 11/05/2025 17:18

Cor, somebody got out of the wrong side of the bread!

TomatoSandwiches · 11/05/2025 17:19

The fresher and more expensive it is the more it tastes gone off imo, bring back mighty white please.

My problem is I have too many lovely pieces of sourdough toast 😕

DisplayPurposesOnly · 11/05/2025 17:20

I buy mine from the supermarket, it lives in the freezer. Makes great toast 😋

I make home made bread but don’t like sourdough, I have tried to like it but just don’t!

I cant get on with it either, its just.....bread. Big whoop.

It will never replace cheap sliced white when it comes to the king of sandwiches (cheese and crisp).

Oh dear, someone is ruining my lighthearted thread with seriousness, so I will reply in kind

I dont care that I dont eat bread, havent eaten it for years long before this fad came along

Im simply fed up of the constant mention of it. No one says toast or bread anymore, they have to preface it with SOURDOUGH.

Where is mothers pride when you need her!

White bread
brown bread
granary bread
rye bread

I could
go on

are you getting yourself in a tizz about all of them too?

Soonenough · 11/05/2025 17:33

It's quite nice when it's warm and dipping in quality olive oil . And you're in Italy. In the sun .

I watch OH order this sort of thing in cafes (because theres no other option) and he spends half hour, and a wrecked cafe table, trying to hack through the crust to eat his breakfast.
