Can anyone recommend me a nice pair of jeans! 🤣🤣

Cardi that’s the one that tipped me over the edge! Ridiculous!

I think it’s the layout of the new App, I’m getting sucked in to AIBU! I need to not look! Sigh!
Thanks Grumpy I ❤️ the litter tray

No cat. I’m not compromising her privacy.

Just a place mark so that I can snoop on the Mumsnet Constituency Labour Party debates and composite motions.

Nah sorry Rummly, you have been rumbled

Perdy hates it when I get a case out @BIWI.
Not sure why. She mostly disdains me and quite likes the cat sitter.

I’ve tried. Now I’ve bowed out. They don’t want to understand the deal because they want it to be bad. Doesn’t seem very patriotic to me 🤷‍♀️

Here’s my tax my little girl has a new friend!

My cat is in disgrace after persistently trying to get me out of bed from 5.30 am onwards. Turned out a bag of grapes had somehow fallen on her food and she couldn't get anything to eat, but I wasn't very sympathetic when I finally got out of bed at 6.30.

So maybe I can just share @rockstarshoes cat tax since it looks so much like mine.

I am at the end of my tether with Mumsnet! The number of posts since Thursday which start with a faux naive Op who then disappears & then posters slug it out for the next 999 posts, with a load of fake news & false facts!

I think I’m going to have to hide every topic except Style & Beauty or just find something more productive to do with my evenings!

it is absolutely toxic! 😤

And I am at the end of my tether with MN too - not just because of the mad threads but also because of the two threads about MN misusing people's generic comments to sell specific products. I don't know why I'm surprised really.

Karistyleaftea · 06/05/2025 22:48

Thanks for the new thread.
Tax as per.
Carry on Sir Keir, rise above it.
Your time is worth more than spending it with the seemingly hostile media.
It can often seem as if they don’t actually care about the U.K.’s recovery .

You don't fancy popping over and putting those on the batshit thread do you? I’m staying well away. They’d ignore them anyway, so don’t bust a gut…

littledrummergirls · 06/05/2025 23:06

My not cat tax landed next to me last weekend. I think he's a cardinal beetle which seems apt although I'm happy to be corrected if not. I thought he was beautiful.

I'm sitting on my hands instead of engaging.
This is a massive deal! We just opened up new areas of trade in services (which we excel at), with the world's third-largest economy. 129 million people speak English as a second or third language, and it's a stable democracy.
If you want a bulwark against China, Russia or batshit US, you need India.

We should be celebrating this.

Notonthestairs · 06/05/2025 23:08

Feels a bit pointless given they have their fingers in their ears.

Weird that so many people claim not to know we have similar arrangements with other countries.
Weird or just disingenuous.

We slashed our own GDP implementing Brexit, we need FTAs.
The Indian economy is a good place to start.

We want growth - no, not that sort of growth.

Thanks for the new thread.
Duckling tax this time. I did politely suggest to the mother duck that, considering we have four cats, bringing her twelve ducklings into our garden was 'unwise'. Fortunately she took my advice and returned to the backwater.
I'll make no further comment about returning arrivals by water whence they came.

In response a top up tax. York and its geese. Ended up searching 8 years back for these!

I've hidden style and beauty. Some of the posters there are quite worrying!

He has the sense to be a lovely colour, unlike the boring black one that tried to hitch a lift into the house on DS2's sheet, this evening.

Morning all .Thanks for the new thread @DuncinToffee . Loving the pictures, particularly the lovely Hoy. @derxa .

Apologies for the lack of contribution. The thread moves very fast sometimes and I cant keep up!

Here's my tax. I found this book in a a charity shop and when I stopped laughing - I bought it. It does make me chuckle.

Good grief, the Brexit dream of unicorms appears to be alive and well in some areas of MN.

The UK decided to knock 4-5% of GDP on the basis that we would sign lots of FTA around the world.

We actually sign one which is predicted to contribute 1% to GDP (unlike the paltry Australia one) and suddenly its a disaster for made up reasons XYZ.

There have been no concessions on Visas. They are under ministerial control.

The reason the previous government didnt sign it was because India wanted concessions on student visas.
Labour wouldnt agree to that either.

The difference now is Trump - India will be charged 26% tariffs. Suddenly they were interested in making a deal.

India's economy is the 4th largest in the world, its growth rate outpaces China and it has a large middle class that wants to buy from the UK.

Notonthestairs · 07/05/2025 08:27

For people who regularly claim to worry about growth and GDP, they don't seem all that interested in measures that will contribute to either.

The misinformation being spread is dreadful. Anyone pointing out facts gets insulted.

Let them froth.

Notonthestairs · 07/05/2025 08:39

It's worth more than the NZ, Australia and Japan FTAs combined!

And nothing on student visas which was the real bugbear between India and the UK over the last 3 years.

Indian workers will still pay income tax and the NHS surcharge.

Rummly is correct that Trump's actions provoked India to respond BUT fucks sakes if you voted for Brexit surely you must have realised "opening us up to trade" meant exactly that.

Sometimes I think Brexiteers hoped we'd be self sufficient - trading between villages in bloody sugar beet and carrots or something.
