White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says she will speak to Trump and the National Security team about whether the US can offer political asylum to British citizens fleeing UK free speech laws.

Reality: UK law does not restrict free speech - only incitement to hate, violence and terror.

The questioner is Winston Marshall, who was kicked out of Mumford & Sons in 2021 for expressing far-right views... and now masquerades as a free speech warrior, wrongly claiming the UK bans free speech.

His dad is Paul Marshall, who co-owns GB News - a far-right conspiracy theory spreading channel.

Would asylum depend on skin colour?😑

logicisall · 28/04/2025 21:00

Trying to keep my spirits up as I've been reading reports saying that Ukraine will have to accept a 'peace deal' that includes giving up Crimea.

Just switched on the news and the orange oaf is speaking. Anyone watching and able to say what he’s currently on about.

They are welcome to keep them…..

Liberals won in Canada, so we await Carney's next moves against Trump's 'pronouncements'.

Igotjelly · 29/04/2025 06:18

Seems they’re likely to fall short of a majority though which always makes governing more challenging.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 29/04/2025 06:41

Chatting to sibling in Canada who is amazed at the turnaround since January (when Trump came into office, for those of you who might have forgotten) - it became more than ever a two party race, and the Conservatives lost because of the perception that they were supporters of Trump. I have found one thing for which to be grateful to Trump (yesterday’s Truth Social announcement would have been the last straw for Canadian waverers, I would have thought.)

MsJinks · 29/04/2025 08:12

Hoping Farage et al seek asylum in the US - as a refugee you can't be trotting back home or you no longer need that status - would be perfect!

Loving the Republican talking head on Sky News who gave Trump 10/10 on the grounds that he is delivering everything he campaigned on.

Other talking head then mentioned ending the Ukraine/Russia war in one day.....

I'm reading it, and all I hear in my head is his stupid voice coming out of his very small pouty mouth.

God did he personally lose his own constituency (not sure if Canadians call them that)?

I think they're called ridings but yes.

Wallaw · 29/04/2025 10:29

I just read that the liberals are 700 votes short of a majority but they're still counting. Fingers crossed they get it.

That will not be the political realignment Rump was hoping for.

CaveMum · 29/04/2025 10:55

Liberals are currently 4 seats short of a majority based on projections - 172 to get a majority.

He actually increased his vote, but the Liberal almost doubled his. Very high turnout.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 29/04/2025 11:22

If I were Trump and had any self-knowledge, I would take the Canadian vote personally as a huge slap in the face and consider myself told. But I’m not, and he doesn’t, so what do you think he’ll do next with regard to Canada?

It would be so shit if they missed out on a majority by 4 seats!

Obviously the election has been rigged.

Oh, yes, of course, just like the 2020 one in the USA. How could I forget?
