I hope Hegseth's days are numbered. Surely he compromises the military with the chaos since he became DefSec.

This article is written by the chief Pentagon spokesperson who resigned last week. And this person has been pro Hegseth. But no more.

It's galling, the top ranks in the Pentagon are in near collapse.
Yet even strong backers of the secretary like me must admit: The last month has been a full-blown meltdown at the Pentagon — and it’s becoming a real problem for the administration.

They wanted to lock up Hillary Clinton for using a private email server....

I find myself wondering if Vances "meeting" with the Pope turns out to be a big fat lie, as the Pope was pushing up daisies when it was supposed to have happened ?

I saw it on the BBC news last night, so probably not. I was pissed off that he hadn’t been snubbed. Imagine dragging the poor old Pope off his deathbed to meet with that evil human being Sad

RafaistheKingofClay · 21/04/2025 10:53

Pretty sure there are photos of it so not a lie.

Stalin would have said the same .... 😀

RafaistheKingofClay · 21/04/2025 10:57

I should have put a caveat on that. 😂

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2025 11:12

He seemed to have pushed Meloni? into intervening. The Pope doesn't look impressed on the photo.

logicisall · 21/04/2025 12:02

@Wallaw thank you, even though the Guardian article was thoroughly depressing. Vanguard is recommended a lot on MN's Financial threads for cheap, diy investing, and many pension funds wwould be invested in some of the companies mentioned in the article. I feel that Trump's fingers have imposed themselves negatively in all parts of ordinary people's lives. Everywhere.

This could be the BBCs greatest challenge yet. Mind you, they managed to lose a million man march over Brexit, so I am sure they are up for it.

On a serious note, the best protest would be a completely silent one, where there crowd turned their backs in a Mexican wave as the TrumpCart passes by.

I am sure it could all be easily coordinated with an app for demonstrators to run on their phones that vibrates as the cortege passes by them. They could start their pirouette when the phone vibrates in their pocket.

Well explains the falling birth rate.

Maybe we could ship them some UK "women" to even the balance ?

The different ways in how Vance's meeting with Pope Francis were reported. Does Vance have a memory problem?
https://newrepublic.com/post/194178/pope-francis-jd-vance-lesson-immigrants-death

And Hegseth's response to reports of a 2nd Signal chat that included his wife and brother:
His response to this second national security bombshell has been to insist that it’s simply a politically motivated smear campaign rather than yet another massive faux pas.

Pope Francis Gave JD Vance a Serious Lesson Just Hours Before He Died

The historically progressive pope had a clash with JD Vance about the MAGA agenda.

Spandauer · 21/04/2025 15:19

Maybe Vance could pop over and give old Vlad a visit next... and say a few prayers for his good health?

Whens the first trumpet due ?

RafaistheKingofClay · 21/04/2025 15:27

Maybe nip into the Oval Office too while he’s praying.

Honestly, most of the MAGA Catholics couldn’t stand Pope Francis. Lots of them were a small step away from not recognising as Pope. His stance on refugees, the poor, climate and the death penalty was everything they are against.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2025 15:27

Leavitt: "The president stands strongly behind Secretary Hegseth ... this is what happens when the entire Pentagon is working against you and working against the monumental change you are trying to implement. Secretary Hegseth was nominated because he's standing up for the warfighters."

Surely this is the time to blame the blob ?

Funny how these days people expect religions to pander to them. A logical development when you realise that for most people, it's the god bit of religion that's the problem. They quite like the bling.

Well this is awkward

There's so much noise around Trump's administration that we might be starting to forget some of it. A reminder from today's The Times that four law firms are fighting back.
