The death toll of this barbaric event is now 66 horses killed since 2000. The Grand National three-day meeting is lethal for horses – who have no choice but to run for their lives on a racecourse designed to push them to their limits.

Backing a ban on this and hunting (in NI still allowed and celebrated) horses should be cared for like all pets and not dragged around for hours in horse lorries so twats can dress up and prance around on them.

Yes they do. But the GN, and racing in general, treats a living, sentient being as a disposable commodity for the sake of entertainment. Racehorses are backed whilst they are still babies, well before their skeletons have finished forming and forced to perform well beyond what is acceptable for entertainment. The wastage in the industry is appalling. We have a failed racer at our yard whose body, at 5 years old, is absolutely wrecked.

All for entertainment. It's wrong on every level.
