Thanks for starting this fresh thread.

I am not into cats, flowers and haberdashery so I will focus on the political, please.

Ooooh, a tax dodger in our midst! 😂
Meanwhile, here's my cat tax. This is Fettuccine. He doesn't like tax avoidance.

He was judging me for not sharing my yogurt. He loves yogurt, but it does terrible things to his digestive system.

Come on @MyNameIsX - there must be something you could post that isn’t, for once, about politics?!

Especially since these threads are not and never have been only about politics. The cats, chat about life and hobbies etc. are as integral as the politics.

I like the inclusion of photos and small details about lives and hobbies etc. I see them a way to 'get to know' the posters. They are not just faceless usernames but become 'characters' in the thread dialogue, whose reactions and responses I can understand and appreciate more because I have a tiny bit of background knowledge about them, their lives and their trials and tribulations.

If that makes me a 'saddo' - so be it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

In September 2024 Labour announced Martin Hewitt had been appointed as the Head of the UK's newly established Border Security Command in an effort to tackle irregular migration. He earns £200,000 a year plus a pension contribution of 27%.

Setting up the new Border Security Command was a key immigration policy pledge in the Labour Party's 2024 election manifesto aimed at combating small boat crossings and disrupting the criminal networks behind them. Starmer promised that Hewitt will lead a "new era of international enforcement" to dismantle the smuggling gangs and "bring order to the asylum system ".

Yvette Cooper said at the time "Under this Government we have taken early action against the smuggler gangs increasing British officers stationed at Europol and commencing recruitment of 100 specialist investigators to go after these criminal networks and their supply chains. How much extra is this costing the tax payer?

Fast forward to March 2025, Yvette Cooper "Britain's ability to stop illegal migrants crossing the channel depends on bad weather". Have Labour only just realised this? Honestly, we all know that more migrants come across in calmer seas, it's not rocket science but it is Labour's job to sort this just as they promised, not use the weather as an excuse and waste more tax payers' money.

dontcallmelen · 31/03/2025 11:56

didnt Rishi bang on for a very long time about “Stop the Boats” & millions or maybe billions I lost track of how much was handed over to Rwanda wasn’t exactly a shining example of how the conservatives managed it either so maybe give it a bit more time?
