Just noticed that awful film Mrs Harris goes to Paris is on TV I saw it at the cinema. Awful and the write up sounded so good. Hated Mama Mia and Barbie too.

Dirty Dancing like pp I like the music
Bladerunner
Scarface

the80sweregreat · 02/11/2025 21:09

Dirty dancing is just about a ‘ groomer ‘
He doesn’t even like her much at first.

deirdrerasheed · 02/11/2025 21:19

Scent of a woman. Just yuk, unfortunately I saw it at the cinema.

buttons78 · 02/11/2025 21:25

Shrek

the80sweregreat · 02/11/2025 21:28

Shrek one is a classic.
The others are not as good ! They still make me laugh though.

readingmakesmehappy · 02/11/2025 21:30

Loathed Bridesmaids.

@TheOtherAgentJohnson bank of dave is a true story as a drama documentary. I quite liked it.

Moulin Rouge. Such absolute rubbish. First and only time in my life I walked out.

Any paranormal cartoon film. Can't bear science fiction. Or Marvel stuff. If dh suggests watching a film, my heart sinks.

I know it's a true story, still an execrable film.

I agree with you re: Moulin Rouge though.

Think I must be the only person who can’t stand Bridget Jones!!

No, I agree. I thought she was exactly the type of woman I can't stand. Although credit to Renee Zellweger for making her tolerable to me, she is a really talented actress.

I liked Bank of Dave, but turned off Bank of Dave 2. It's about payday loan companies. Near the beginning Amit Shah plays someone who "works at Citizens Advice". Dave asks him about payday loans and he points at various people in the pub and tells Dave about all their financial problems. He could have talked vaguely about it being a problem, which would have been fine.

I used to volunteer at Citizens Advice and it's confidential. You're not even supposed to say that someone had been to see you let alone pass on their problems to a bloke in the pub. I found that really annoying and CitA should complain.

Bit niche I guess.

buttons78 · 29/03/2026 17:15

Dirty Dancing and Grease. Always remember them being rolled out at teen sleepovers and had to pretend I liked them. Both utter shit.

Have to disagree about Bridget Jones and Stand By Me though, I love them both.

Davros · 29/03/2025 22:56

Shawshank Redemption. Totally overrated

Noooo it’s my favourite film loved it.
I cannot abide any Lord of the Rings or Star Wars films. Also thought 50 shades was 50 shades of shite !

ThePoshUns · 29/03/2026 17:20

Jurassic Park.

Peony1985 · 29/03/2026 17:37

All the 80’s brat pack films. Great if you were American but bore no resemblance to school and college on the Isle of Wight. Never got the Ferris Bruller, or whatever he was called hype.

That airport one with Taron Egerton...Carry-On. Fucking tripe.

To be fair I don’t think anyone thought that was any good. It was indeed tripe.

Figgygal · 29/03/2026 17:39

Another view for la la land
I hated jazz before I saw it and even more by time it was finally finished

crossroadsfan · 29/03/2026 17:40

Pretty woman... a real dodgy premise going on there
Grease - load of rubbish

Clearinguptheclutter · 29/03/2026 17:41

For me it’s The Holiday

total rubbish

also hated two Brad Pitt films- Benjamin button and the one where he dies right at the start. Awful awful awful.

CuteOrangeElephant · 29/03/2026 17:43

If you would ask this question to my DH he would go on a long rant about Oppenheimer.

He reckons this will be marked in history as the point where the decline of Christopher Nolan began.

CuteOrangeElephant · 29/03/2026 17:46

I just asked and he did start the rant about Oppenheimer.

PottingBench · 29/03/2026 17:54

The Greatest Showman. Genuinely annoyed with myself even now for wasting time I'll never get back watching this bilge.

Lifestooshort71 · 29/03/2026 19:14

Forest Gump - disliked it intensely. Tom Hanks has definitely improved with age (not that FG was dreadful because of him so a bit of a non sequitur).
Edited for typo

JLMA · 29/03/2026 19:17

Sinners

Shawshank Redemption. Totally overrated

Absolutely. And the Green Mile.

Tonissister · 29/03/2026 19:21

Mama Mia - I can't get past the first few minutes of it - I hate it so much. If it is on TV and I catch a few minutes from another part of the film, I hate them too.

Also Sex & the City. I hated that film so much I was grinding my teeth, sitting with a crowd of school mums who loved it.
