Just noticed that awful film Mrs Harris goes to Paris is on TV I saw it at the cinema. Awful and the write up sounded so good. Hated Mama Mia and Barbie too.

Oh and yes The Holiday. Naff and embarrassing.

Goandygo · 31/03/2025 03:59

I'm not a lover of films- they have to come highly recommended. A friend recommended Bridesmaids, said I'd love it.
I didn't.

Vates · 31/03/2025 06:22

The Marvel films, I know I have watched some but can't tell you which ones. My Nephew loves them though.

Avatar.

CheeryPenisBeaker · 31/03/2025 06:31

Pretty Woman and A Star Is Born (Gaga/Cooper version). Latter was the most tedious pile of self indulgent bollocks I’ve seen in years.

The king’s speech irritated me.

One of my favourite films!

I also loved the first Avatar. Adore Dirty Dancing. Like Mrs Harris

Agree about Lala Land and Live Actually though

All the Star Wars series except the original.
The Shawshank Redemption.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
But all of these pale into insignificance compared to Gangs of New York the worst movie I ever saw in my life.

I concur about Gangs of New York! Absolute Drek. Hated Jerry Maguire (sp?) too.

Stand by me. I even started a thread to try to see its appeal but people who love it, both on here and in real life, can't say what it is they love about it. I asked about the 13-year-old kid taking a gun to a knife fight and being lauded as a "peacemaker" by the narrator, and got told I was overthinking it.

I mainly found Donny Darko confusing, but what I hate about it is that a teenage girl character has her mother disappear, and has good reason to fear the worst, but when she goes to ask Donnie's help she forgets about her mother and has sex with him and we never hear or see another thing about the mother, because this is a boy-comes-of-age film and the protagonist's first fuck is what matters.

Agree about "Stand By Me". "Now And Then", which some people say is a female version of "Stand By Me", is SO much better. And I'm not just saying that cos I'm a woman.

Salt burn

Elderflower14 · 31/03/2025 18:35

For those who hated Mrs Harris (I wasn't keen!) The original with Angela Lansbury and Omar Sharif is on You Tube. Here
Its much more true to the beautiful book... 💕 💕 💕

NuitDeSable · 31/03/2025 20:01

Marley and me. Bad acting and horrible acting with unlikeable characters. Jennifer Aniston playing herself.

codegeass · 01/04/2025 11:23

Definitely the Marvel films, and same here - no idea which of them I watched (not that many though). I guess anything related to superheroes is just not my cup of tea.

I’m gobsmacked that someone has mentioned When Harry Met Sally - genuinely my favourite ever film. Clever, witty, charming: the two leads have great chemistry and the backdrop of NYC through the seasons/years is beautiful. I know the script practically word for word.

Same. That film is pretty perfect for me.

Same. That film is pretty perfect for me.

Saw that for the first time recently. A friend's mother said it was wonderful. I was sceptical (I'm 21) but I was "enchanted" if that's the right word! It's so true to life. The scene in the cafe is just FANTASTIC!!

Think I must be the only person who can’t stand Bridget Jones!!

I can't stand it, and I have never seen it.

FastFood · 13/10/2025 13:07

The Lion King.

EverardDeTroyes · 13/10/2025 13:11

I stopped watching Mrs Harris half way through and haven't tried it again even though I felt it should be something I enjoyed. I was just so bored by it.

I was astonished to find that some people think The Holiday is the best film ever. I thought it was utter drivel.

CharlieKirkRIP · 13/10/2025 13:46

Marley and me. Absolutely garbage.
Mama Mia - a complete cringefest.
Pulp Fuction - awful.

TonTonMacoute · 13/10/2025 15:57

Most of the stuff that has come out of Hollywood in the last 30 years has been massively overhyped IMO. All that fucking comic book shit! Grow up people FFS.

Spiderx · 02/11/2025 00:09

Top Gun ...absolutely boring ...no real story...just crap !

Tryingatleast · 02/11/2025 00:11

Crazy stupid love- they all irritated me!!!

Spiderx · 02/11/2025 00:17

No Shawshank Redemption AND Green Mile...nonsense sugar coated rubbish

TeenLifeMum · 02/11/2025 00:21

Girl with a pearl earring - I will never get that time back. Nothing happened.

Spiderx · 02/11/2025 00:38

Concur with most of that list but keep the Big Lebowski off it...the film with everthing in it ...drama, comedy, sex, wierdness..
Perfect !
