Just noticed that awful film Mrs Harris goes to Paris is on TV I saw it at the cinema. Awful and the write up sounded so good. Hated Mama Mia and Barbie too.

OP posts:
SpringIsSpringing25 · 29/03/2025 23:48

Moulin Rouge.

Mirabai · 29/03/2025 23:48

Love Actually, Titanic, Mama Mia, LaLaLand - never managed to sit through any of them.

murasaki · 29/03/2025 23:48

I actually enjoyed Mrs Harris, it was quite charming.

Titanic can get in the bin though, also the Holiday and Love Actually. I have no truck with any Bond since Brosnan as they've lost the joke element and seem to think they are serious drama, and anything involving Cruise since Magnolia can also do one. He can act, but just doesn't.

Mirabai · 29/03/2025 23:49

Anything involving superheroes.

Amen.

Clearingaspace · 29/03/2025 23:50

i agree with nearly all of these. There are a couple however that I didn’t like when I watched them originally but my dds watch them and they have grown on me - titanic and la la land particularly.

my addition would probably be its a wonderful life.

I quite liked everything everywhere. I deliberately never watched fight club but saw it recently and liked it more than I expected

nessiesnotreal · 29/03/2025 23:50

Think I must be the only person who can’t stand Bridget Jones!!

Shoezembagsforever · 29/03/2025 23:51

Love Actually actually made me feel soiled it was so actually awful!

Shoezembagsforever · 29/03/2025 23:52

But the latest Bridget Jones is a masterpiece in comparison.

Davros · 29/03/2025 23:57

Titanic and Pretty Woman go without saying 🤷‍♀️

LordJohnGrey · 30/03/2025 00:00

Walked out of the first Bridget Jones and havnt bothered with the rest.

Most chick pic films to be honest. Don't like Chick Lit either when it comes to it.

Bond movies. Awful films, only seen bits as DH watches them and I have to suffer them being on.

Doitrightnow · 30/03/2025 00:02

I agree with most of these except Titanic, which I loved!

The Thin Red Line. I watched it at the cinema on a date and have never been so bored. I can't remember a single thing about it.

Dumb and dumber was ghastly too.

murasaki · 30/03/2025 00:05

ET. And Planet of the Apes. Any version, but particularly the odd one with Helena Bonham Carter. That was visually disturbing.

Springee · 30/03/2025 00:06

2 films raved about at the time that I thought were really horrible Fatal Attraction (nasty anti women tripe) and American Beauty (horrible exploitative misogyny).

Lord of the Rings (talk about drawn out, I went to the loo and came back to find the same cgi battle still going on).

Gone with the Wind goes in and on and on ...

ThatsNotMyTeen · 30/03/2025 00:06

The Banshees of Inisherin. Utter, utter shite.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 30/03/2025 00:07

Yes - the Lord of the Rings films are also terrible. So boring

ClairDeLaLune · 30/03/2025 00:08

LaLaLand
Titanic
Bad Santa (not sure if this is even popular but we ruined our last Christmas Day watching it)
Office Christmas Party (ditto but for Christmas Eve Eve)

MerelyPlaying · 30/03/2025 00:08

Moulin Rouge. Couldn’t get beyond the first 15 minutes and have never understood the hype.

I liked ‘Mrs Harris’ though. And I do have a guilty liking for’Love Actually’ despite being well aware of its flaws.

murasaki · 30/03/2025 00:08

I love Bad Santa, it starts the Xmas period for me!

Springee · 30/03/2025 00:09

Oh, I forgot ET - never saw it at the time. DC and I watched it and everyone thought it was awful

DrummingMousWife · 30/03/2025 00:10

The Martian . I will never get those hours of my life back. Total tripe.

SuperBlondie28 · 30/03/2025 00:10

Avatar for me. Just hated it. Forced to go to the cinema by DD and DH. Totally yawnfest!!
I really like James Cameron films normally but blue cartoon aliens, nah..

LaLaLand. Switched off TV after 10 mins.

I'd never watch ANY film with Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell in. Can't stand either of them!

murasaki · 30/03/2025 00:11

Adam Sandler is my red flag too.

Veryverycalmnow · 30/03/2025 00:12

Titanic, Mamma Mia, Dirty Dancing,

murasaki · 30/03/2025 00:13

Jason Statham, the Rock and Vin Diesel are also not kite marks of quality so avoided by me.

UnctuousUnicorns · 30/03/2025 00:16

When Harry Met Sally. Rented the video, sat down to watch it with my mum. We got less than halfway through before turning to each other and agreeing that it was crap, so off it went.
