Cats and flowers

I’m hanging on for the bluebells.

I say ‘casting nasturtiums’ and people look at me all gone out 🤣
Where did I get it? Is it an age thing?

It’s definitely an age thing. I’ve stopped using it because it provokes “Is she getting dementia?” looks from our kids. I have to be more and more careful. 😂

I was thinking Cats and Haberdashery

Love this!

PickAChew · 28/03/2025 16:54

It's not something I say but only because I automatically call nasturtiums "masturshalums". It's the sort of thing that earns me a hair ruffle from DS1.

That's the one!

toooldforbrat · 28/03/2025 16:57

Can I just say I once planted nasturtiums on my allotment - now can't get rid of the bloody things - they are prolific!

countrygirl99 · 28/03/2025 16:58

Rummly · 28/03/2025 16:17

Fair enough. I wasn’t casting nasturtiums on your MP’s decency.

I just recoil at impersonal PR responses from politicians and public bodies.

TBH that's a cross party problem. I've given up writing to my Tory MP because the response is usually something cut and paste that is only vaguely related to the question and if I point out he hasn't actually responded to my question he gets arsey. Previous Tory MP was great and very thoughtful but Johnson forced him out.

Yes!
I also immediately thought of Morecambe & Wise or the Two Ronnies.

I’m hanging on for the bluebells.

I'm doing some butterfly monitoring this year so hoping for some nice photos.

My parents planted them in our garden and they grew so fast! They are edible so we had nasturtium leaves instead of lettuce on our sandwiches for quite a while. Lovely, peppery flavour.

Not Brexity enough?
They lost some very decent MPs to that.
Whilst Johnson should take some of the responsibility for that - it was also down to the make up of the local constituency parties many of whom either already contained or gained uber Brexity voices. I speak from experience.
Seem to remember the Brexit party supporters being encouraged to join for that purpose.

countrygirl99 · 28/03/2025 17:10

@Notonthestairs that and, I suspect too intelligent and thoughtful so likely to ask difficult questions.

At the risk of upsetting some of our posters, I'd like to let you know that little Tennyson will be 2 on Sunday.

I was about to type that is the kiss of death for any MP. But I don't think that is true. Lots of decent ones plugging away.

MNHQ have a thread about classics. One they mention is the shrew ice cream for cats. I reckon he should have that.

I bought him a Victoria sponge last year for his first birthday. He's exceedingly partial to Victoria sponge. He was only allowed a little bit though. I might let him have some cottage cheese.

@DuncinToffee I don't remember people getting as upset about our thread titles when they contained Johnson's name, or am I misremembering? And I definitely don't remember anyone assuming we were all Johnson fans 😆

I remember one of the Tory threads where a newcomer came in and started telling me I was personally by I blame for all the ills because I admitted I’d voted for Johnson.

even the Labour supporters here and those who aren’t Torybir labour never threw such vitriol at me for my mistaken voting choices.

Saucery · 28/03/2025 17:44

Yeah, slightly right of centre leaning voters are always getting run out of town/ignored/bullied on these threads……oh hang on….no I wasn’t. It’s a complete mystery. I wonder why? Hmm
