amd are there even mmooorrrre points in offer for the fact we are both tax payers and as a newbie software developer he will be a high earner and neg contributor via tax one day

but still take his PIP home!

Pensioner here. And I bet I’ve paid more tax than all of you. I made my first tax payment at 33% basic rate - drumroll - 54 years ago.

Edited

You really haven’t, trust me, or don’t.

PickAChew · 27/03/2025 21:05

Non tax payer with free goat and free car, here - a wanky electric one at that. DH is a higher rate taxpayer and I save all those other real taxpayers a fucking fortune.

We all do our bit according to our capacity to do so

From each according to their ability, to each according to their need.

cardibach · 27/03/2025 20:52

No. I like a functioning society where services work and people don’t starve if they have disabilities and so on. It’s not the amount of tax, it’s the principle. I’ve paid without complaint, including some CGT which only needed to be paid because of the pandemic slowing everything down.

I pay my taxes. They buy me civilisation.

We do.

And yet we are perfectly entitled to question where our funds are disbursed, and whether they are deployed prudently.

This Labour government seems to agree.

Yay, Marx!
@itsgettingweird you don't get extra car points unless your free car is a £50k BMW. Sorry.

And I can't have a goat, I'm too busy having cats.

S'funny, innit ?

You worry about what you pay, don't worry what others pay but begrudge it going to others.

I don't worry about what I pay. Do worry about what others pay (or don't) and don't begrudge it going to others.

I'm sure there's a foursquare for that

Just for the lolz I posted that into our ChatGPTy friend ... which you will notice is now more articulate than a few MN posters.

I really do.

PM me, and we can go through the numbers together.

I bet you will not, and will post something on the open thread instead.

OK.

Do please let me know if/when you want to get serious.

And this is serious.

That really is a bad chat up line

You think that Labour’s welfare reforms are humourous?

BIossomtoes · 27/03/2025 21:39

I think certain people don’t understand the culture of these threads.

Notonthestairs · 27/03/2025 21:41

Really inappropriate to badger posters for personal information.

MyNameIsX · 27/03/2025 21:41

The culture? Please explain.

MyNameIsX · 27/03/2025 21:42

The PP made a wager.

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2025 21:43

Internet safety is not their forte

Maybe they would like to use Signal?

It was a wager - made with an assertion.
