Which one would it be? Missing persons, unsolved murders or even random unexplained events.

Re. Ames Glover, the only source for him having been taken from his dad's car is the dad. Nobody else saw the baby in the car. He disappeared but was probably dead and disposed of before a story about a car abduction was confected. Poor mite.

The architect of Stone Henge

I'm intrigued by the Stephen Clarke case. I don't see how he could have disappeared from that lavatory on the seafront. I don't believe he was ever really in there and I suspect there has been foul play.

The vanished lighthouse keepers of Eilean Mor I also find very intriguing.

The disappearance of Juan Pedro Martínez, also known in Spanish media as the Boy from Somosierra, took place near Somosierra, Community of Madrid, Spain, during the early morning hours of 25 June 1986. Juan Pedro, aged 10, was riding with his parents in a tanker loaded with 20,000 litres of sulphuric acid when the vehicle lost control and crashed on the Somosierra mountain pass. Both parents died in the accident, but the child's remains were never found.[1]The case is considered by Interpol to be one of the strangest missing persons cases to have occurred in Europe during the late 20th century.

The tanker was later found to have been driving erratically just before the crash. The whole incident was weird.

I'm in Australia so only Australians would know about the Beaumont children.

Three siblings taken at once, in the 60's, South Australia. Every time it comes back into the news, my parents, who were locals at the time, talk about how the crime caused people to start dead locking their doors & keep kids inside. They're still looking, although have a pretty good idea who took them.

Bevan Spencer von Einem? I read about an interview with an informant some years ago, who suggested Bevan confessed to doing horrendous things to them.

Ruth Wilson would be my choice. It's such a strange and baffling story. I think she must have been groomed by someone.

I have wondered that too. I think she met someone on Box Hill and they went off together somewhere far away, perhaps Ruth changed her identity?

Gymmum82 · 03/03/2025 21:50

Andrew Gosden.

The police know what happened to maddie and most of the community and the police know what happened to Claudia they just can’t prove it

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 03/03/2025 21:53

@Gymmum82 most of the community and the police know what happened to Claudia they just can’t prove it.

From what I've read I think that's the case with missing Nicola Payne too.

ChompandaGrazia · 03/03/2025 21:57

Andrew Gosden. I don’t know how parents of missing children and young people get through each day.

I dearly wanted Keith Bennet to be found while his mother was still alive.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 03/03/2025 22:01

@ChompandaGrazia so did I. Not just for his Mrs Bennett but also so that Ian Brady would have been robbed of his last bit of power. Sadly life doesn't always dole out the justice it should.

I’ve heard of the Beaumont children even though I’m in the uk. Read about them years ago and I’m sure that another famous mystery Tamen shud happened on the same beach (dead man with no identity) also very strange, I think they know who he is now though.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 03/03/2025 22:48

Me too. Don't know why it would be assumed others had never heard of something happening in a different country. Particularly these days with the internet.

Agree with ALL the missing children ones - especially Andrew Gosden

I'd really like to know how Elisa Lam ended up in a water tank on the roof of the infamous Cecil Hotel, who she was talking to in the elevator and what or who it was - out of shot - that had so frightened her.

Elisa Lam I think may have been having a psychotic break down her behaviour at the elevator presented that way. That said, I've heard it said it is unlikely she would have climbed all the way to the water tower, which suggests some foul play may have occurred. It makes me wonder if someone wanted to hurt her and why.

HerbalBovril · 03/03/2025 23:02

William Tyrrell. I think about him most weeks. I live not far from where he was last sighted, and everyone here knows someone that is connected to the case in some way (joined search parties/questioned by police/etc). It’s baffling and heartbreaking in equal measure.

I looked into it and I believe she'd stopped taking her medication and was psychotic. I think she did go for a swim and someone put the lid on, not knowing she was in there.

So very sad for her loved ones.

If that is what happened, i hope she drowned before she realised she was trapped.

i did watch a documentary on it – perhaps it was the Cecil Hotel documentary – and I remember some discrepancy over the lid of the water tank, but it still felt very much unsolved.

Eilean Mor?

Is that the same or different to Flannan Isle? 3 lighthouse keepers disappeared with food on the table?

I think for some reason they've gone outside to to help someone and been washed away.
Or possibly a minor earthquake, causing a freak wave. The UK has lots of minor earthquakes every year. But they wouldn't necessarily known what it was.

Lyannaa · 04/03/2025 00:43

Lee Boxell. Someone must know what happened to him.

His parents have kept his bedroom as it was to this day.

I seem to remember a post on here years ago who alluded to being Ruth. She certainly said she was someone who’d disappeared off the face off earth, changed her identity and made a new life. Iirc people on the thread wondered if it was Ruth. Of course it could have been total bollocks.

That's the one. Yes it does seem they might have been swept out by a massive wave, the sea was rough. No bodies were washed up though.
