I wanted to touch base with Lemons, but I think she's gone now. Does anyone know?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/05/2025 16:50

@ShoesOnFirstThenCar hasn't posted in a while, either. 🤔

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/05/2025 17:09

@DucklingSwimmingInstructress has alao been scarce.

Just checking in a few regulars. 😊

I think she departed last year after announcing that her DH had had an affair and they were splitting up. I do hope she's okay.

I found her. Says she's doing great and just taking a break from mn. 😊

MissConductUS · 23/05/2025 19:35

That's lovely news, Havoc, thanks for checking with her. 😀

Hope those not around for a while are all ok, thank you @Mumtobabyhavocfor checking in. Also wondering about @HelenaJustina.
Loving the pics, keep them coming!
Our peonies are about a week behind yours @MissConductUS- they don’t last long do they!
My brother has a cat which he takes for walks on a lead @mathanxiety.
when are you going on your trip @bizzey?
Both DSs are revising hard for exams, I’m finding it almost as stressful as they are!
went for a short trip with old school friends to south of France as we are all celebrating a milestone birthday. It was lovely.

Thanks for the shout out @sproutsandparsnips I’ve had a break from Mn, not intentionally, just no time for scrolling!

All well here, DC getting older by the minute. No public exams this year but a double whammy next year instead. Mid birthday season (when I forget how old the DC are and either round up or down as the mood takes me) Work busy with some potential changes on the horizon for September but I’m not ready to talk about it yet!

Nothing earth-shattering on a global scale but minor tsunamis shake the day to day occasionally - the perils of so many teens (and a preteen in one house!)

MissConductUS · 23/05/2025 20:29

It's good to hear from you, Helena. Having teenagers in the house can indeed be a constant trials.

sproutsandparsnips · 23/05/2025 21:52

@HelenaJustinawhat @MissConductUSsaid!

HelenaJustina · 23/05/2025 22:04

Trial but also a delight. I find teens funny, sharp , witty and kind. Their take on the world is often novel and challenging (or worthy of challenge) and you get glimpses of the wonderful people they are growing up to be.
They are also equal parts infuriating, annoying and unpredictable… but it’s not all bad!

HelenaJustina · 23/05/2025 22:04

Just a message of hope for those not yet in this phase! Like all others, it too will pass!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/05/2025 04:05

Glad to see you here Helena. 😊

I spent the afternoon at the Aquarium in Stanley Park with dc. It was very busy with school groups, I counted 6 school busses, I think, but overall okay. Just tiring.

A few pics from the aquarium:
Lion's mane jellies;
two tanks of local sea life

I had a nice little treat with my Amazon order this morning !

I ordered some foundation that I have ordered before ...but today's order came with a free little make up sponge applicator 😁😁....!

I love getting nice surprises !!

bizzey · 24/05/2025 15:17

@sproutsandparsnips
Venice !!
Hence needing to get my fitness levels up 😂😜.

It will not be a relaxing holiday .
Walking for miles and lots and lots and lots of stairs over the bridges 🤣

bizzey · 24/05/2025 15:22

Back is strangely feeling good today .

Combination of Chiropractor and the new tablets.

But ...here is the weirdest thing .

I was feeling very bloated before Chiropractor.

Like I was getting pumped up with a cycle pump .

Got rid of some summer trousers as they looked silly on me ...ds actually asked if I was pregnant 😮😂.

The next day and today ...puff ..it is Asif he pushed a lot of excess air out of me 🤣😂😮.

I know that sounds ridiculous...but that is how I feel.

2 more visits and I will look like Kate Moss 😂

This is not a dull or unexciting news, but had to share. My cousin and his wife arrived unexpectedly on my doorstep this morning. I haven’t seen them since they moved first to New Zealand and then Australia 28 years ago. Growing up my cousin was the same age as my brother, we all lived in the same street, and saw each other every day. We were at the same primary school, but he and my brother were at the same Grammar school.

We used to have long summer breaks, from June to September and we had several parks we used to frequent, taking a packed lunch and we would spend all day outside, when the weather was good. If it rained, we had board games and we used to have a game of Monopoly, which lasted for days. Lovely memories. So it was such a wonderful surprise to see them today! 😍🥰

MyrtleLion · 25/05/2025 15:34

About to watch Liverpool’s final game this season. Prosecco is ready to toast their visitors in the Premiership.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/05/2025 18:36

I'm a bit lazy this morning. Have got the US' Indy 500 on tv (just started), but need to get dressed and out the door with dc.
Blitzed a bit of a chore yesterday: painted part of the kitchen while dc napped. Managed prep, painting and clean-up within an hour. Inch by inch, step by step, things will get done. 🤗

mathanxiety · 26/05/2025 00:28

Waves to Helena.

Long story, but I ended up spending a chunk of Saturday afternoon at a Chuck E. Cheese's. It wasnt where I remembered it from a ghastly birthday party one of the DCs attended many, many years ago. I suspect they took a flame thrower to the old one that had the sticky floors. The one I went to was very shiny and new but I still wanted to take a shower when I got home. I turned on the classical music station in the car on the way back.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/05/2025 05:59

Managed to get the dc out to Playland for the day. It was baby's first time to an amusement park. 🤗
I somehow missed getting sunscreen all the way up to my hairline, though, and have a lovely red arc temple to temple along upper forehead. Great. 🤦‍♀️

Made bison burgers on brioche with cheddar and Swiss and corn on the cob for dinner.

Another bank holiday and another trip to the minor injuries unit.

I cut my thumb inside the skin fold where the nail meets flesh while book booking about eight days ago. Went to the pharmacy who said it needed antibiotics and draining (it’s located in a supermarket so also picked up some shorts for my holiday).

Drove to minor injuries unit and after a 90 minute wait was seen and told it’s a granuloma - an excess of blood vessels overreacting during healing. Silver nitrate sticks or steroid cream are the solution so I have to call the GP in the morning.

While there, a man came in who has dropped a 15kg weigh On his foot on Sunday night at the gym. Foot came up black and purple and he went back to the gym this morning, but kept his leg up. He then walked downstairs and his foot bent out of shape and he can’t walk on it.

I could see his foot wasn’t black and purple so I asked if it was cold. He said yes, and it was numb, he couldn’t feel anything at all. I said I thought he had a very serious injury and would likely end up at the city hospital a few miles away.

I was so concerned I mentioned it to the nurse who saw me and he was also concerned and said he would be seen next- it’s first come first served there, with no triage.

At the very least he’s damaged his nerves and blood vessels, but I was concerned it was compartment syndrome and he might lose his foot.

He said hospitals freak him out. Why are men such wimps about it? He should have gone to A&E last night when he did it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/05/2025 21:13

Myrtle, I hope thumb responds to suggested treatment. I haven't heard that before. Your recounting of the foot guy reminded me of last year after I had baby and ended up in hospital emerg one night with dangerously high post-partum blood pressure. Obviously you can see and hear everything about everyone in the waiting room and in my head I was like, right:
John, still can't give urine sample, has tried twice
Lady with crying baby really should try feeding and be given a private and quiet space to sit
Guy coughing should have a mask
Couple with the obv special needs child, very ill and coughing til vomiting need attention now
I also wondered how everyone made out later. 🤔

Slept in til 9am today (all of us!) yea!!!🤗
Made steel cut oats for brekkie with butter, cinnamon, blueberries and blackberries for dc and brown sugar and berries for me and dmum.
Havoc peed on the kitchen floor so I steam mopped kitchen, everywhere else and area rugs as was going to do that tonight anyway. 🙄
Also managed 2 loads laundry washed and hung up. Now have towels on hot with bleach. Had a bath as was very sweaty after cleaning. It's humid here after a warm day of 20c yesterday and rain this morning. God, I love waking up to the sound of rain in spring and summer. 😊

MissConductUS · 27/05/2025 15:30

Myrtle, when men show up in the Emergency Department, it's often a chronic issue that they have been studiously trying to ignore for years, until it takes a dramatic turn for the worse. Like coughing up blood.

Havoc, Emergency departments here have gotten much nicer in the last 10-20 years. Many of them have high staffing, short wait times and private waiting areas. The reason is that there's a surplus of hospital beds in my area, and they've realized that the ED is a prime source of patients to fill those beds.

It was a pretty quiet weekend here, but lovely to have Monday off for Memorial day. There were lots of college graduations in the area. I watched the one at West Point on TV. It's not far from where we live. I'm keeping an eye on the website for our favorite pick your own farm for the announcement that they're taking reservations for strawberry picking. They usually open up in early June, but it depends on how the strawberries are coming in.

More flowers are blooming in the front garden. I've texted the landscaper to find out when he'd like to dig out my dead rhododendrons and plant the boxwood bushes.

Come and tell us your dull and unexciting news 33: Calmly through the day
