Ohh @MissConductUS ...that is indeed a fantastic area !

Depending on their length of stay ...but I highly recommend the Thames Clipper .
It is like a river bus .

Greenwich is easy to get via it and it is a much more enjoyable way of getting there that by TFL .

Even as a Londoner .. I get excited about going on it 😂.

Hop on hop off ticket might work out cheeper than using contactless thought as there is no daily cap on the fares so each fare is added and along with exchange rates could work out a bit expensive.

Love loved loved Greenwich!

One leg either side of the Meridian Line 😂.

And the Cutty Sak is amazing.

The London Underground Tube can be quick ......

But overground will let you see much more .

In face thinking about it ...
A travel card might be there best bet for travel in London .

Tube ...tap in and out ....even if barrier is open ..
Very important

You will be charged more if you don't tap out ...not less !

Same with over ground train.

Bus...
Only 1 place to tap and that is with the driver and then that is it.
No tap out.

No cash allowed to buy a ticket on the bus.

Happy to answer any other queries !

A Wetherspoons pub is always the best place to guarantee a cheap meal .

Might not be the best ...but it will fill a hole 😂😂

bizzey · 05/05/2025 20:30

Wetherspoon is the company who owns all the pubs .
It won't be in the name of the pub !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/05/2025 21:06

Bizzey, if I may?
Life's too short for bad food.
I get so sad with a bad meal. 😿

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/05/2025 21:08

Running late, but, if things go my way will manage to get dc out downtown. 🤞

sproutsandparsnips · 05/05/2025 23:04

@MumtobabyhavocRugby union. Season is beginning September to May.
@bizzeylast time I went to London I was excited by the fact I could just tap my phone on the barriers and was charged - no need to buy a ticket!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/05/2025 03:20

Sprouts, that's a long season with all the aways and cooking. It sounds like it was fun, though, and that ds really improved. 😊

I did manage to get the dc out and downtown by 2pm and I took them to the Banksy exhibit. It was quite impressive. I took lots of pics and made a keepsake for each of the dc. You could pay extra to spray-paint a stencil of a Banksy work onto a t-shirt, but I stencilled Havoc's sweatshirt jumper and baby's jeans. I still had to pay, but only for one as I didn't take the t-shirt.

I was quite moved learning about some of the pieces, particularly these:

Well my medical dramas continue !

Saw GP this morning about a mole another GP came across while examing my back due to back ache.

She is referring me to specialist dermatologist.

The support compression stockings I was wearing for the VV procedure are the wrong size !

I did think to my self they were going on really easy 😂😂.

My sizing equals a small .
The box is a medium 😢.

Hopefully ds can go and collect the new ones for me from the hospital.
Otherwise ...another cab for me .

Really hope it hasn't hindered recovery .

bizzey · 06/05/2025 11:06

@Mumtobabyhavoc ..I love those Banksy pics !

bizzey · 06/05/2025 11:18

@sproutsandparsnips ..yes ..phones , watches and cards can be used as contactless.

But TFL have a daily cap of x amounts depending on which zones you are using /going through.
So it would never be over x amount for a day .

But the river boats do not have that facility.

Therefore...using it as a hop on hop off lots of times could ork out expensive .
Also .. transaction fees might come into play. .

bizzey · 06/05/2025 16:13

Hummm 🤔🤔🤔...
Just had a cling ping link thing on my phone.

I have an appointment next week for this suspicious mole .

🤔🤔🤔..

Doctor sent me the photos she took of it .

I have to say ...nothing like we are all supposed to be looking out for in all those adverts. !

New stockings won't stay up !!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/05/2025 16:42

Bizzey, I bought really good compression socks to wear while pregnant off Amazon.

I've just finished a rosemary rocksalt bagel from Siegel's. I'm convinced they gave me more than 6. I'm thinking 8. No idea if I was charged for that many, though. I'm sure I've had two for the past three days and two are left. It is Tuesday, right?

I don't mind their stuff. They do bother to do veggie/vegan stuff. Their brekkies are good. I normally go for the pasta alfredo or the bowl thingy with noodles. Nearly went in lunchtime but had t pop back into work. I don't tend to drink alcohol in the pub but have a diet coke with loads of ice.

bizzey · 06/05/2025 21:38

@Deathraystare ..yep.....A Wetherspoons breakfast is fantastic for settling you up for the day !

Free free fills as well now for coffee/tea.

bizzey · 06/05/2025 21:45

I have bought a suspender belt to keep the stocking up !! 😄

MissConductUS · 07/05/2025 15:52

Now that spring has truly arrived, I've moved most of my plants, including Albert (the giant Aloe) out onto the deck. If you look carefully, you'll see a small but friendly lion lounging on the cushion. I'm starting some plants from seed in the plastic container in the foreground.

DS is going to look at flats to rent this weekend. What's been holding him back is how expensive they are within commuting distance of his job. He's starting in an area that would be about a 45 minute drive from us, but just 20-25 minutes from his office.

We'll miss him when he does eventually move out, but am glad he's staying in the area. It's been three years since he graduated from uni and moved back in with us.

I have fixed our mortgage for another two years at 0.5% above the Bank of England base rate (currently 4.5%) to start on the 1 July. This means we keep our current rate of 0.46% above base for two more months.

As we are expecting the base rate to fall tomorrow I'm really pleased we could fix at this rate. It might not be available from tomorrow. In any case the rate will continue to fall as the base rate falls (hopefully to 3.5% by Christmas and 3% by Christmas 2026). Last time we checked we could only fix at 4.2% and no trackers were available.

I am feeling exceptionally chuffed with myself.

A bit of a slow morning here.
Wondering how the lasagne thread broke talk guidelines and got deleted. 🤔
(It's lasagne fgs!) 🤷‍♀️
Baked a tray of croissants and ate 1 1/2 with peach jam. Baby scoffed half of one.
DC playing without too many tears.
Read the silver birch thread and now have a certain song in my head...😵‍💫
I should get a load of laundry on and I need to get some groceries. Will check-in later.
Miss, where are the turtles??? 😭

Well my suspender belt I ordered to keep up the stocking turned out to be a laugh !!

What I had ordered was 4 suspender straps !!

I couldn't work out what I had to att85hem to ..?
My Knickers ?

Anyhow..the straps were too long and couldn't be made any smaller.

So I returned them .
But ...I got the refund without having to return them !

So I have ordered another belt off e bay .
Cheapest and least sexy and frilly that I could find. 😂😂.

But I have tied an old school tie around my waist and attached on strap to that and the stocking so at least I can do some housework while keep it up.

I am worried that if the stocking is not up /in the right place on my leg. ...that the procedure will fail 😢.

I cancelled the physio appointment I had for Tuesday as I feel a bit " medicated out "

It has been a bit overwhelming for me lately ...I am someone who hardly ever goes to doctors!

Dermatology appointment on Wednesday.

That is starting to play on my mind a bit of I am honest .

GP was quite open about the fact it looked very suspicious and talked about skin cancer .

Might have to share my worries on here if that's ok as I obviously can't tell anyone in my family.

Poor mam has been worried sick withe just having a varicose veins treatment 😙.

mathanxiety · 08/05/2025 01:12

Sending you good vibes, bizzey. Take it one day at a time.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/05/2025 03:29

Bizzey, I had two moles removed last year. It's an easy day procedure. I really recommend properly fitted compression socks.

Managed all errands today and it took ages. Didn't expect a shouting match at Costco, in the check-out line, with a man who accused me of butting in line after I denied his request to queue jump and then push in front of me anyway, but life is full of surprises. 🤷‍♀️

sueelleker · 08/05/2025 06:13

My recently adopted rescue dog from Cyprus (which I didn't post about, because it's not dull and unexciting) was left alone yesterday for the first time; while I went to the dentist. Came back to find she'd got hold of my reading glasses (which I thought were well out of reach) and chewed the ends off both legs! Luckily a) they're still usable and b) I'm due a check-up soon anyway.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/05/2025 06:37

Uh, oh! @sueelleker I guess doggo isn't quite up to being alone yet. 🫶
